Six Senses Krabey Island Cambodia—back to nature tropical escapism.
Six Senses Krabey Island has a real sense of adventure with all of the accommodation set within a lush 1000-year-old forest.
Krabey Island covers 30 acres, with nothing but the resort, with the accommodation located in a circular fashion.
The design is a combination of natural tropical forest and contemporary private pool villas—at one with nature, easy on the eye with a sense of exclusive destination and less-is-more luxury.
Krabey is just 15 minutes by hotel speedboat from their private mainland jetty, where arrival formalities are completed.
Krabey means ‘buffalo’ in Cambodian.
The nearest airport is Sihanouk Airport (KOS), just a 10-minute drive from the jetty. There are frequent domestic flights from Siem Reap, with daily international flights from Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and several weekly flights from Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). Access to the island is both convenient and seamless, plus the possible introduction of regional flights (subject to confirmation).
The Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, is about a 3-hour drive via the new expressway, offering scenic views of the Cambodian countryside.
Forty freestanding villas are thoughtfully integrated into the lush forest. Each offers a sea-facing view, partially framed by dense foliage, leading out to the Gulf of Thailand.
Each villa is large and rather private, set in lush tropical surroundings, each with a private pool and inviting indoor-outdoor living.
Guests can choose from a range of unique options:
- The secluded Hideaway Pool Villa Suite (120 sqm)
- Elevated Ocean Pool Villa (77 sqm)
- The sea-facing Ocean Pool Villa Suite and Oceanfront Pool Villa Suite (both 120 sqm)
- The expansive Oceanfront Two-Bedroom Pool Villa (200 sqm)
- And finally, the exclusive Beach Retreat (190 sqm) with direct shoreline access and uninterrupted ocean views
With most villas, there will be steps, both in and around the area, so a reasonable level of mobility is required.
- Main swimming pool
- Choice of restaurant location and cuisine
- well-equipped gym
- An attractive, expansive spa
- The beach is a small, man-enhanced sandy cove
- The water sports center offers non-motorised activities as well as sea and land excursions
- Nearby islands with additional options are easily accessible by the hotel speedboat (extra cost applies)
The very high standard of nature-influenced villas, coupled with the tropical lushness that surrounds you at every turn, is what makes staying at Six Senses Krabey Island so appealing.
The island can be easily circumnavigated on foot, just as long as you are comfortable with steep hills and small pathways. Alternatively, buggy shuttles will take you everywhere within minutes.
It is essentially couples-focused or for families with older curious children.
The best weather will usually be in the months November to May. From June to October, Cambodia experiences daily brief tropical rain showers and occasionally choppy seas, but the sun is often shining between the showers.
* From certain points on Krabey Island, you can see Sihanoukville, a large and rapidly expanding city. Fortunately, the transfer from the airport to the resort does not pass through the city.
Both Marie-Helene & David from Chic visited the resort in spring 2025 and would be delighted to discuss in detail.
Six Senses Krabey can easily be combined with a stay in Siem Reap and/or Phnom Penh as well as many other places in SE Asia.

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per-person, per-night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
