The Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket is a good all round hotel with excellent facilities for all the family
The Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket is one of the most established hotels in Phuket, recently considerably enhanced, with particularly attractive rooms and relatively newly opened pool villas facing the lagoon. The airport is 25 minutes away. Located within the Laguna Resort Estate.
Dusit Thani has a total of 255 rooms, suites and villas. All are decorated with a traditional Thai theme.
You have a choice of:
Lagoon-Facing Rooms and then a variety of Seafacing and Oceanfront Rooms and Suites.
The Duplex Pool Villas are located in a quiet area to the right of the resort and are all lagoon facing.
Several speciality restaurants (plus as part of the Laguna Resort estate you have inter-change dining with several other hotels so you have over 12 restaurant options with ferry or buggy shuttle)
Laguna championship golf course (at Banyan Tree)*
A complete range of non-motorised water sports can be arranged subject to weather conditions.
The Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket is a good all round hotel with excellent facilities for all the family.
You have a good selection of restaurants both at the hotel & within the Laguna area, plus just a few minutes walk outside the property you have several more options. Excellent beach, particularly in months December to May when you have generally low waves. In the mid-summer months, Phuket generally has higher sea swells, red flags and some beach erosion.
Note -During the generally quieter months of May to October the resort will continue its enhancement work . This time they will concentrate on the North Wing rooms ( the south wing and the pool areas were completed in summer 2017 ) so the high standards remain consistent .

David Revisits Thailand 2022
I last visited Thailand in December 2021. At the time travel was limited and you had to take a test before and on arrival. This time it was much more open. I arrived in Phuket, showed my Thailand pass and vaccination certificates, and collected my case – all within 45 minutes.
Travel is Back – But Keep Your Expectations Realistic
Confidence to travel again has certainly returned as Covid cases around the world continue to drop. Virtually every country (or at least those Chic Locations feature) has relaxed its entry protocols and whilst there are still a few in-destination regulations these are...

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Even Fonder. David Revisits Thailand – Yet Again.I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to revisit Thailand in early December. The last time was in autumn 2019. I have missed it madly and badly. I first visited Thailand in 1976 – yes...
Passport Renewal – Don’t Get Caught Out
Even though the passport office say they can cope with demand at the moment, I have still been told to expect at least 4 /6 weeks for a new passport to arrive. As travel demand increases the longer it will take unless you want to pay extra for fast track…
Maldives – Welcome Back
The UK Government, both the Home office and the Foreign and Commonwealth office, have now approved travel to the Maldives. This is fantastic news and comes at exactly the right time for winter escapism.

Phuket Sandbox Promotion
Although the Sandbox scheme has improved week on week since its introduction in early July, and most of the southern resorts have a high vaccination rate and low cases, the UK Government has chosen to look at the entire country and made it all on the UK Red traffic light NO GO area.

COVID-19 - Updated Information – March 2023.
Virtually all countries worldwide have relaxed their protocols on Covid and there are very few restrictions. However, most countries review this on a month-by-month basis and will take immediate action should cases return or increase.
As a general statement, we would say travel is back to about 90% of its 2019 pre-covid levels – although with maybe less staff than before. This can particularly apply to airports with check-in teams and baggage handlers, and also in hotels. If you are a long-time repeat visitor to a specific hotel it is quite possible you might know your way around the property better than the newly appointed staff – smile and maybe even try to assist!

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
