Santa Caterina Hotel has stunning views. An instant WOW from the moment you arrive.
Santa Caterina Hotel is an outstanding luxurious hotel, with incredible views overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Seemingly built into the cliff face, the style is traditional, sumptuous and elegant. Perfectly capturing the romance of a 19th century Art Nouveau villa, but with contemporary comforts.
The village of Amalfi is 800 yards away, the famous jetset resort of Positano about 20 minutes drive, and Naples Airport just about 90 minutes, maybe a little longer if you want to enjoy the fantastic views as you travel along the dramatic coastline.
A selection of 67 rooms and suites, dotted around the extensive grounds, with the majority in the main house. All are beautifully decorated with artefacts and antiques from around the region, plus of course Vietri ceramics, for which the area is renowned.
You have a choice of partial or full sea view rooms, larger Executive Rooms, Deluxe Sea Front Rooms, Junior Suites with integrated living space and Speciality Suites (some with their own plunge pool).
The suites are mainly located in a separate collection of villas, located in the lush gardens and citrus groves, yet still with stunning views overlooking Amalfi Bay. The II Pino (The Pines) offers a spacious one bedroom suite, terrace with full sea view and access to your own private garden.
The Follia Amalfitana one bedroom suite is one of the most photographed in the entire region. Stunning view, with Jacuzzi pool plus cliff edge infinity pool.
The split level Chalet Giulietta e Romeo is as the name suggests – the perfect romantic retreat. Round terrace with full sea view, infinity pool and solarium. Expensive, of course, but that just adds to the appeal.
Attractive cliff top gardens with lemon and citrus trees
A choice of two speciality restaurants, beautifully located plus several more in Amalfi and in the area.
Heated salt water swimming pool. (Usually open April – October, subject to weather)
Bathing platform with steps into the sea
Fitness room
Wellness centre and Spa with Turkish bath
Glass lift from the higher levels to the bathing platform
Free shuttle to and from Amalfi during the day
Santa Caterina Hotel has stunning views. An instant “Wow” from the moment you arrive, quickly followed by a picture or selfie to make your many friends really envious!
The style is graceful and rather deliberately understated, but with all of the chic grandeur you associate with this fantastic area of southern Italy. The hotel is built on several levels with numerous steps, with romantic corners at every turn.
The Amalfi area is known for it’s romance, incredible views and attractive villages and small towns. The beaches tend to be pebbles rather than sand, but the water clarity and quality is usually superb. You can charter a small boat and visit the many small coves, only accessible from the sea, that abound on this dramatic coast line. Your concierge will be delighted to assist.
Naples is the usual gateway for travel to the Amalfi coast. It is an interesting proud city, with a total authentic Southern Italian atmosphere. As your transfers will be arranged with the Santa Caterina we can arrange for a short tour of the city en route to the hotel. Ask us for details. Day tours to Naples, or to the regional towns and villages can easily be arranged with the concierge.
Note – During the months of mid July and August the roads become much busier, so longer journey times should be anticipated.
Note – Santa Caterina Hotel would not be suitable for those with mobility issues, as there are steps linking the public areas. The hotel is family friendly – one of the few in the area- but you should be sensibly cautious with younger children.
Marie-Helene (MH) from Chic stayed at the hotel in May (2016). She thought it was wonderful and would be delighted to discuss the property in greater detail. Email MH Here!

David Revisits Thailand 2022
I last visited Thailand in December 2021. At the time travel was limited and you had to take a test before and on arrival. This time it was much more open. I arrived in Phuket, showed my Thailand pass and vaccination certificates, and collected my case – all within 45 minutes.

COVID-19 - Updated Information – March 2023.
Virtually all countries worldwide have relaxed their protocols on Covid and there are very few restrictions. However, most countries review this on a month-by-month basis and will take immediate action should cases return or increase.
As a general statement, we would say travel is back to about 90% of its 2019 pre-covid levels – although with maybe less staff than before. This can particularly apply to airports with check-in teams and baggage handlers, and also in hotels. If you are a long-time repeat visitor to a specific hotel it is quite possible you might know your way around the property better than the newly appointed staff – smile and maybe even try to assist!

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
