Uga Jungle Beach Resort is located 11 miles north of the port of Trincomalee. A Robinson Crusoe hide and chic rustic retreat, with thatched roofed cabins sandwiched between the lagoon and the Indian Ocean.
6 hours drive across the island from Colombo. There are domestic Cinnamon Air flights from Colombo to the domestic airport. After that, it is a short drive to the resort.
Uga Jungle Beach Resort has 48 cabins, with a choice of Lagoon View, Jungle View or Beach.
All are deliberately rustic. As a result, they perfectly capture the essential simplicity of the resort.
The Lagoon View offers the lowest price.
The Jungle Cabins are good for those who want to be close to nature.
Lastly, the Beach Cabins have direct access to the superb stretch of sand directly in front of the resort.
Restaurant plus numerous private dining option
Yoga and cooking classes
Superb beach
Whale and dolphin watching tours
Bicycles for exploring the extensive grounds including a nature trail
Pidgeon Island Marine National Park is known for its excellent snorkelling and is easily accessible
Kokkilai Bird Sanctuary is also close by, as is the busy port city of Trincomalee, with its historic and spiritual importance
The luxury of the Uga Jungle Beach Resort comes in the deliberate simplicity.
Uga Jungle is comfortable, wonderfully natural, relaxed and easy going. Jungle Beach will not appeal to everyone, but that is also part of the attraction.
This side of Sri Lanka is generally at its best from March to October. The winter months can see monsoon rains and facilities can be affected.
Chic is delighted to be a partner with Uga Escapes. One of the fastest-growing – and certainly the most innovative – of the small luxury hotels in Sri Lanka. Currently, just five luxurious, totally unique and delightful properties. You have Ulagalla in the Cultural Triangle. Uga Bay in Passikudah, Uga Chena Huts way down south in Yala National Park. Finally, in Colombo, there is The Residence.
All of our touring arrangements are based on a private basis. Each tour can be individually tailored to suit your personal requirements. We would suggest The Uga Jungle Beach Resort as a summer beach retreat, but also as part of a tour of the Cultural Triangle. All can be easily combined.

+ About Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is shaped like a tropical teardrop, fantastic scenic and cultural variety. It is exotic, with wonderful history and culture, eco-adventures and wildlife viewing, and wide smiles. In recent years the quality of accommodation has improved significantly, with many boutique heritage hotels and wonderfully luxurious resorts. The image of the island has moved more upscale – as have the prices – but we now rate it as one of the most exciting tropical destinations.
The beaches are good, but for us the real joy of the island is to tour around, staying in the very special boutique hotels and then end in a resort for a few days. The flying time from UK is 12 hours.

Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.
For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.
If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.
The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day. This will provide you with information on entry requirements including COVID-19 testing and any quarantine stipulations, especially on return to the UK.
