Sister hotel to the Rasa Sayang and part of the Shangri-La Group. Shangri-la Golden Sands is a family friendly superior class hotel with extensive facilities. Located on Batu Feringgi Beach, 30 minutes from Georgetown and 55 minutes from the airport.

Shangri-la Golden Sands has 387 rooms, either offer inland or sea-facing views.

We particularly suggest the sea-facing rooms, with those on the higher floors having full sea view whilst those on the lower floor are sea facing albeit across the garden.

A further selection of family suites are available.

Facilities and Activities

Main swimming pool and two smaller options including kids pool with water slide

A choice of restaurant style and location

Regular entertainment

An extremely well organised Kids Club and Adventure Zone (shared with the neighbouring Rasa Sayang Hotel)

CHIC CHECK

Shangri-la Golden Sands is particularly good for families, or just those that require a complete resort with excellent facilities and dining options – both within the property and close by. The hill facing rooms are the lowest priced, but might be noisy, especially with the window open, given that you have village – complete with mosque – close by.

Note – Although you will find water sports offered by beach vendors, the arrangements are not covered by the hotel and as such are strictly at your own risk. It is quite likely the vendor will have no insurance, and it is possible any equipment might be intentionally faulty, to cause you extra expense.

Malaysia is one of the most fascinating countries in the region with a rich diversity of cultures, scenery and resort variety. Peninsula Malaysia stretches down from the border with Thailand in the north through to Singapore in the south. On the separate island of Borneo you have the states of Sarawak and Sabah. Flying time from UK is approx. 12 hours to Kuala Lumpur (known as KL). Onward travel to Penang or Langkawi is one hour, two hours to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and Kuching, Sarawak.

Kuala Lumpur, is the proud capital city, with high rise buildings, but just as many colourful older traditional areas. Click for Booking Terms, Price Guides & Flight Information

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers.
Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.

For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.

For the Mediterranean & Canary IslandsCaribbeanArabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.

*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Please refer to Travel Advice on our home page or look at www.fco.gov.uk as the Foreign Office may have issued specific destination information on safety and terrorism.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.

If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.

The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day. For updated information please refer to the UK Government travel advice https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice. This will provide you with information on entry requirements including COVID-19 testing and any quarantine stipulations,  especially on return to the UK. As you will know this information is constantly changing, frequently at short notice as evidenced by our own Government actions.
