Pavilions is a delightful boutique hotel in a totally Balinese style. Spacious, highly individual villas and attentive, smiling service.
Pavilions Bali is a charming little boutique hideaway, located in the traditional village of Sanur. The hotel is within a private garden estate, set back from the beach (about 200 yards) and the road.
30 minutes from the airport.
The Pavilions Bali has 25 individual villas.
Each is designed in a traditional style, all with a walled garden, indoor lounge and outdoor living space. All villas are spacious. The design style is wonderfully Bali, but with all the modern comforts.
Most have private plunge pools. These are particularly suggested for their additional romance.
Honeymoon Villas are duplex.
- Main swimming pool
- Simple spa
- A charming garden restaurant, with an emphasis on Asian specialities.
- The Truth About Earthquakes & Volcanoes
Indonesia is located within the dramatically named “Ring of Fire”. As such, earthquakes are almost a daily occurrence in some parts of the archipelago. Anything less than five on the Richter scale of earthquakes hardly breaks a stride locally and is barely reported. There are 130 active volcanoes. Some have been docile for years, others seem to grumble more frequently. So in reality, you can have a natural disturbance, but the chances of it actually happening to you are rare. A little tremble quite probably… anything more serious is unlikely. Neither earthquakes nor volcanic eruptions are seasonal.
Pavilions appeals to those who value individuality and service over extensive facilities.
Most clients are pleasantly overwhelmed by wide smiles and very genuine hospitality. It is the kind of hotel where the first impression is good, and then it gets even better. All of the villas are spacious, with a traditional design theme. The majority have a private pool.
Just a couple of minutes walk, through the arched garden pathway, and you have the village of Sanur. This was one of the first areas of tourism in Bali. Whilst rival resorts like Kuta and Nusa Dua have grown beyond recognition, Sanur has remained more low-key and rather nicely traditional. You still have an abundance of well-priced restaurant options and local shops. The beach at Sanur is long, but swimming & watersports can be limited by the coral just offshore. Pavilions have their own simple beach club facility.
Driving time to Seminyak is 40 minutes and Kuta 50 minutes.
Pavilions can be a good starting point before a tour around the island, maybe including the lesser-known resort areas such as Manggis and Lovina. The Sanur area still has an authentic village style, with a little of the raucous style of “Costa Fosters” Kuta and maybe less selfie-focused than Seminyak.
