Damai Lovina is hard to find, even harder to leave…
Damai Lovina has a traditional design theme. It is wonderfully authentic with pleasing contemporary comforts.
Located on a hilltop overlooking the north-west coast, with the small town of Lovina about 10 minutes away. The north is the island is different from the highly developed south, here the style is more authentic and totally charming with the silence broken by the sounds of roosters and Geckos. The drive up to Lovina is spectacular passing over high misty mountains and through lakeside villages. Once you arrive into Lovina you turn up a small winding side road for 10 minutes to find the hotel.
The airport, in the south of the island, is a 4-hour scenic drive through the rural heart of Bali.
Damai Lovina Just 15 Villas. All are spacious with the emphasis on dark local woods and antique reproduction furniture.
You have a selection of:
Garden Villas, Premier Villas which are more contemporary and larger, and then pool villas.
All have fantastic views over the rice fields and tropical scenery with the volcanic beaches in the distance. The neighbouring island of Java is clearly visible on most days.
Note – The accommodation is located on the hillside going down into the gully. There are several steps so the resort would not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
Restaurant specialising in Indonesian and especially North Bali cuisine.
Simple Spa with wonderful treatments, big smiles and strong hands!
This area is one of the best for soft adventure and trekking to the local villages, diving and dolphin watching can all be easily arranged as well as visits to local temples and waterfalls.
The hotel can arrange free shuttle transport to the dark sand beaches, about 10 minutes down the steep hill
At the beach, there are several simple bars and restaurants and local shops for t-shirts and gifts.
Damai Lovina is a real romantic hide and chic retreat.
Whilst the south of Bali is rapidly developing, maybe too fast in some areas, the north of the island is much more tranquil and traditional. You come here to enjoy the views, the almost spiritual atmosphere, the fantastic scenery and, of course, something rather unique. Service is so good, genuine smiles and a real desire to provide you with something different. We would suggest at least staying for 2/3 nights, there is so much to see in the area both around the coast and inland with treks and waterfalls.
Both David and Marie-Helene from Chic stayed here in Nov 2019 and both totally loved it. It is so different from the highly developed south. This is the Bali of 30 years ago.
The appeal to us would be as part of a combination tour starting in the south of the island where we think The Pavilions or Kayumanis Nusa Dua would make a good choice or Samaya Seminyak if you want so many dining options. Then go up to Ubud for a few nights where we would suggest either Kaymanis Ubud or Chedi Club before continuing north to the Damai. An incredible tour, with each stop even more traditional, and viewing the most amazing scenery.
The Truth About Earthquakes & Volcanoes
Indonesia is located within the dramatically named “Ring of Fire”. As such, earthquakes are almost a daily occurrence in some parts of the archipelago. Anything less than five on the Richter scale of earthquakes hardly breaks a stride locally and is barely reported. There are 130 active volcanoes. Some have been docile for years, others seem to grumble more frequently. So in reality, you can have natural a disturbance, but the chances of it actually happening to you are rare. A little tremble quite probably, anything more serious unlikely. Neither earthquakes or volcanic eruptions are seasonal.

+ About Bali – Indonesia
In our view, Bali Indonesia is one of the most romantic islands in the world. Add instant culture & an almost spiritual atmosphere. Despite increased tourism, once away from the busier resorts you still have a wonderful sense of tradition.

Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.
For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
