Our suggested hotels in Qatar are detailed here.
These are just a few of the many options, so if you do not see your specific choice, just ask.
Both David & Marie-Helene from Chic revisited Doha in Spring 2025. So many changes since their last visit, with many new hotels and in some places, completely new resort areas. They would be delighted to discuss your requirements in detail.
As a guide, these are all about 30 minutes drive from the airport.
We have chosen The Ritz-Carlton Doha hotel as our lead image above to give you a feel for this wonderful destination.
Marsa Malaz Kempinski – The Pearl
Situated within the enchanting locale of The Pearl Qatar – a man-made island designed to be an exclusive and luxurious destination, catering to the discerning tastes of residents and visitors alike. The island is characterized by its elegant waterfront promenades, beautiful marinas, and lush landscaped spaces, creating a picturesque setting that exudes opulence.
Stepping into the grandeur of Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl – Doha, you will be immediately captivated by its seamless blend of Arabian and European elegance, creating a truly opulent atmosphere. The 281 rooms and suites offer a lavish experience, where you can indulge in breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf and mesmerising cityscape of The Pearl from the comfort of your own spacious balcony.
Fairmont Doha
Located in one wing of the unique semicircle design (Raffles Hotel is in the other half). 362 highly contemporary rooms, in every sense. Superb views from virtually every point, looking back to the commercial centre or to the Lusail residential/restaurant areas. Facilities include several restaurants and bars, swimming pool, and a spa & health club. To us, it would be a good base for 2/3 stopovers, as it is so well positioned, plus it will be a real talking point, as frequently featured in Qatari publicity.
Intercontinental Doha Beach & Spa
Located in the West Bay area, on one of the longest hotel private beaches. A good choice for both relaxation and for discovering Doha, with the Lusail /Pearl areas 10 minutes taxi ride, the commercial centre 5 minutes. There is even a metro station a few minutes walk. It opened in 2012, apparent from the typical exterior/ interior style. It has 375 rooms and suites, either with city or sea view. Numerous restaurants and bars, spa and, of course, that rather nice beach. It may not have the sparkling glamour of some of the newly opened hotels, but is very popular and well priced.
Note there is another Intercontinental in Doha, called appropriately City, high rise 58 floors tower. Very different appeal.
The Ritz-Carlton Doha
Bordered by the calming Corniche Bay on one side and the golden sands of the desert on the other, the hotel is an alluring blend of traditional and contemporary lifestyles. The Ritz-Carlton embraces both sides of Doha culture, blending them into a seamless experience for guests to enjoy and take away with them as an indelible memory.
Located in West Bay Lagoon, this extraordinary city resort is the ideal starting point for an inspiring experience in the Arabian Peninsula. One of the older hotels opened in 2001, recently further enhanced at great expense. Well located for the numerous attractions of the city. A rather good 2/3-night base for exploring. A total of 374 rooms and suites.
There is another Ritz Carlton resort in Doha, The Sharq Village Resort (Sharq means East in Arabic, so don’t get frightened). A delightful low-rise beach resort designed to resemble an ornate palace. It is located about 10 minutes away from the airport, close to the national museum and Souq Waqif, and about 20 minutes from the city centre and the Lusail / Pearl resort areas. It would be our choice maybe for a longer 5/6 night stay – ask us for details
And for something very different, try Banana Island Resort by Anantara – a ‘Maldives“ style retreat in Doha!
A man-made “tropical “ island resort in a crescent of golden beach, with overwater villas, just off the coast of downtown Doha. Accessible by private catamaran. An escape for family adventures, ocean thrills or serene spa bliss. 141 rooms and suites , many located over water.
Enjoy an alcohol-free atmosphere with the little ones as you surf, dive, golf, bowl or go to the cinema. Race across lagoon waters with a host of motorised water sports. Unwind in the Middle East’s only wellness centre in an island resort setting, spread across lush botanical gardens. Access is by speedboat , 20 minutes from Doha Marina. The suggested stay would be at least 3/4 nights.
As mentioned, these are just a few of the numerous luxury hotels in Doha. We have preferred rate access to many more.
Qatar has emerged as a true quality destination in the last few years, combining the traditional with the ultra modern. For many, it offers a short break option – flying time from UK is under 7 hours – or as a transit 2/3 stopover en route to South East Asia or Indian Ocean. It is well organised, proudly disciplined in its planning, and in recent years the restaurant & shopping opportunities rival – and in many cases exceed – the high levels offered by neighbouring countries.

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per-person, per-night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
