Bay Gardens Beach Resort and Spa is a great value superior first-class hotel with a superb beachfront location.
Well-priced, attractive Caribbean-themed resort, appealing to singles, couples and families. Located on Reduit beach, probably the most popular on the island, an expansive stretch of generally soft sand at Rodney Bay.
The international airport is a 90-minute scenic drive away as you travel from the southern tip of St Lucia, moving up the Atlantic coast before crossing over the island through banana plantations on the Caribbean side and then to the northwest corner. The smaller inter-island airport is 30 minutes; the capital Castries 35 minutes.
Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa has 72 rooms and suites.
The Deluxe rooms have a Garden, Pool or Beach Front location. Each has a connection to a one-bedroom suite so they can easily be connected into a rather attractive two-bedroom Suite, perfect for larger families.
All rooms are bright and colourful, perfectly capturing the island style. All have a patio or balcony.
The Splash Water park is directly in front of the resort with free entry for in-house guests, lots of fun
Historic Pidgeon Island is located just off to the right and water taxis can be arranged (extra cost)
Rodney Bay resort area is about 15 minutes stroll or resort operates a shuttle and here you find numerous dining & bar options and shops
Golf course is about 15 minutes drive
Full-day boat trips (extra cost) can be arranged to the famous Pitons located in the southwest corner of the island, for us a must-see on any visit to the island. There are also zip wire tours for your consideration. Just check the insurance, ideally before, not during, the ride. You might need to be above a certain height and below a set weight, MH and David just qualified, but at different ends of the scale!
Bay Gardens Beach Resort and Spa is a good all-around hotel, particularly attractive to families.
It is not deluxe, almost intentionally – just exceedingly good superior first-class value. Reduit beach is considered to be one of the best in the Caribbean. A long stretch of golden sand with generally gentle waves, with the Bay Gardens Beach Resort located at the relatively quieter northern end. Particularly noticeable on cruise days when the southern end & middle become rows of day-tripper deck chairs.
We like the innovative room design with each deluxe room connecting with a one-bedroom suite, so easily converting into a two-bedroom suite, ideal for larger families.
The resort offers several meal plan options, from breakfast only, to half or full-board. They have a particularly good All Inclusive plan for those who like the security of one price without having to think about incidental costs every day. The Rodney Bay Marina is just a short drive and here there are more dining options.
Please Note: this is the Bay Gardens Beach Resort.
Within the same group, you also have the Bay Gardens Hotel and Bay Gardens Inn, both of which are located about 10-minute walk inland, close to the entrance to the Rodney Bay resort area. Both offer a much more modest style of accommodation – details on request.
You also have Water’s Edge Villas (by Bay Gardens) at the marina, just a 5-minute walk from the resort. Perfect for the more independent traveller but with all the hotel facilities close at hand.

The main resort area of Saint Lucia is in the north west of the island, around Rodney Bay and Cap Estate, 90 minutes from the international airport which is located on the south coast. Here you will see the greatest development of hotels and villas and good selection of restaurants, shopping malls and some quite lively bars. Probably the best golden sand beaches, particularly Reduit at Rodney Bay which is long and expansive but can get busy, especially when cruise ships visit. The transfer from the international airport is scenic as you initially travel along the wilder Atlantic coast before crossing through banana plantations and dense forest before emerging onto the Caribbean (west) coast.

COVID-19 - Updated Information – March 2023.
Virtually all countries worldwide have relaxed their protocols on Covid and there are very few restrictions. However, most countries review this on a month-by-month basis and will take immediate action should cases return or increase.
As a general statement, we would say travel is back to about 90% of its 2019 pre-covid levels – although with maybe less staff than before. This can particularly apply to airports with check-in teams and baggage handlers, and also in hotels. If you are a long-time repeat visitor to a specific hotel it is quite possible you might know your way around the property better than the newly appointed staff – smile and maybe even try to assist!

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
