Frequently asked question – which is right, Sai Gon or Ho Chi Ming City ? The official name is Ho Chi Ming City, it was renamed after the unification war. If you are a Government official or from the north you tend to use Ho Chi Ming City. However many in the south of the country still prefer the old name of Sai Gon.
