Six Senses Laamu Maldives – total escapism, simple luxury, barefoot serenity.
Six Senses Laamu is a luxurious desert island-focused resort where the deliberate simplicity is very much part of the attraction.
Eco-themed throughout, from the rooms to the care for the house reef and their own organic garden.
It is located on Olhuveli Island, in the more remote Laamu Atoll, 65 minutes seaplane transfer (daylight hours only) southwest from Male International Airport.
Six Senses Laamu has a total of 94 overwater and beach villas evenly spread around the island, with the majority overwater linked by wooden jetties.
All are spacious, with supreme comfort combined with a real sense of destination. There is a similarity of design, with additional space and specific views being the main difference. See map for location layout and island facilities layout.
The majority of rooms are over water, located off the three A/B/C jetties. All have in-and-out living areas, with some also having private pools.
As virtually all have easy access to water (be it stepping into the sea and/or private pool), you do need to be sensibly cautious with younger children, especially those still learning to swim.
You have a choice of:
- Lagoon over Water villas with 108 sqm of in-and-out living space
- Ocean water villas, 108 sqm
- Ocean Water Villa with pool, 126 sqm
- Laamu Water Villas privately located at the end of jetties, 108 sqm
- Sunset Laamu Water Villas, 108 sqm
- Laamu Water Villas with pool, 126 sqm
- Sunset Laamu Water Villas with pool, 126 sqm
- Lagoon Beach villas with pool, 238 sqm
- Ocean Villas with pool, also 238 sqm
- There are Two and Three Bedroom Speciality Villas, starting at 253 sqm
- And finally, a rather special 3-bedroom Reserve Pool Villa, over 1300 sqm
- Yoga
- Spa
- Gym
- Main swimming pool
- Jungle Cinema
- Altitude Wine Bar
- Several restaurants offering different cuisine options and locations
- Kids club
- Dive centre
- Villa bicycles for travelling around the resort
- SHELL (sea hub of environmental learning in Laamu)
- There are numerous sea-based adventures such as windsurfing, paddle boats, scuba diving, snorkelling, and sunset & dolphin cruises (all weather dependent, of course).
The famous Ying Yang wave attracts affluent surfers to this area, particularly in the months May to September, when the wave is generally at its highest.
Six Senses Laamu will appeal to couples and families alike. It has family-focused areas as well as some romantic hideaways.
Marie-Helene and Dominic from Chic Locations stayed at the resort in spring 2025 and would be delighted to discuss.
They particularly liked the overall simple but luxurious style, the attentive, highly personalised service, and the quality of both the sea and beaches. Dominic especially liked the good underwater life, the emphasis on conservation and the cycling around the resort on the various jetties and pathways.
