Ritz-Carlton’s Al Wadi Desert & Al Hamra Beach are two contrasting locations but with unrivalled luxury and Arabian opulence.
Al Hamra Beach Resort is located at the end of a superb stretch of sandy beach.
You are just 45 minutes’ drive from Dubai International Airport and 10 minutes from Ras Al Khaimah city. The Hamra Beach Resort is a short walk from a shopping mall and golf course, as well as being only 15 mins drive to the Al Wadi nature reserve.
Al Wadi Desert Resort is located in a private desert reserve, 55 minutes from Dubai and just 15 minutes inland from its sibling, the Al Hamra Beach Resort.
Al Hamra Beach Resort has a choice of 32 individual tented styled villas. All are spacious with a total of 181 sqm living space.
All Villas are fully air-conditioned, of course, offering the highest contemporary comforts with Bedouin Arabian influences. Each has its own plunge pool.
The Al Bahar Tents are located directly on the beach. The Al Naseem are slightly more private but are just strides from the beach.
Al Wadi Desert Resort has a selection of 101 villas, either built with hue brick or are Bedouin tents. All offer 150 to 252 sqm of total living space
Again, air-conditioned and each has a private pool. The Al Rimal Brick Villas offer the lowest price and can be offered on a breakfast only basis.
The even more Arabian themed Al Khaimah or Al Shari Tented Pool Villas offer unbeatable luxury on a full board basis and even include desert activities daily.
Ritz-kids stay free year-round in all villas.

Ras Al Khaimah offers something very different to neighbouring and much more developed Dubai. It might have less glamour in its shopping and restaurant options, but it scores in the real sense of exclusivity. Plus the fantastic and easy accessible sightseeing with the Musendam Fjords and Mountains just a short drive away.

Holidays in Europe are fantastic. However, it is important to have your passport clearly stamped with your exit date.
I last visited Thailand in December 2021. At the time travel was limited and you had to take a test before and on arrival. This time it was much more open. I arrived in Phuket, showed my Thailand pass and vaccination certificates, and collected my case – all within 45 minutes.
Confidence to travel again has certainly returned as Covid cases around the world continue to drop. Virtually every country (or at least those Chic Locations feature) has relaxed its entry protocols and whilst there are still a few in-destination regulations these are...
Absence Makes the Heart Grow Even Fonder. David Revisits Thailand – Yet Again.I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to revisit Thailand in early December. The last time was in autumn 2019. I have missed it madly and badly. I first visited Thailand in 1976 – yes...

COVID-19 - Updated Information – March 2023.
Virtually all countries worldwide have relaxed their protocols on Covid and there are very few restrictions. However, most countries review this on a month-by-month basis and will take immediate action should cases return or increase.
As a general statement, we would say travel is back to about 90% of its 2019 pre-covid levels – although with maybe less staff than before. This can particularly apply to airports with check-in teams and baggage handlers, and also in hotels. If you are a long-time repeat visitor to a specific hotel it is quite possible you might know your way around the property better than the newly appointed staff – smile and maybe even try to assist!

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
