Anantara Villa Padierna Palace defines old-world elegance and luxury, located within a huge private estate.
The building style is influenced by both Italian and Spanish architecture from the 1800s – although was only opened in 2003, and in 2018 as Anantara. Majestic arches, huge ceilings, sweeping staircases. Stone, wood and marble are wonderfully combined. Over 1200 original works of art, including numerous statues. It is hushed-toned elegance taking you back to bygone luxury. Set within a huge private estate, the hotel is surrounded by three golf courses with a lake directly in front. Mature sub-tropical gardens.
Anantara Villa Padierna Palace is located in the area of Marbella and Estapona, 10 minutes drive inland from the coast. Malaga Airport is 50-minute drive away.
Anantara Villa Padierna Palace has a selection of 132 rooms, suites and villas.
The rooms and suites are spread over two main buildings, linked by a sheltered walkway.
There is a choice of:
Deluxe rooms with either garden or lake views, deluxe rooms with a terrace (our favourite as the large garden/pool facing terrace really enhances your stay).
You have a selection of Junior Suites with integrated living space with a few one-bedroom speciality suites.
Plus there are several villas with a private pool in a separate exclusive area. They are mainly one and two bedrooms, plus a rather special Obama villa (named after the former First Lady of the USA after she stayed here a few years back).
- several restaurants offering differing locations and cuisine
- Roman amphitheatre used for special events or concerts .
- Small chapel
- The exclusive beach club is located about 10 minutes away with a regular shuttle service
- Adjacent to the beach club, you have a tennis and sports club – separate management but guests can book by arrangement
- Of course the impressive golf courses, with three on-site and many more in the area.
Marbella, Puerto Banus and Estepona are all a short drive away and here you will find numerous dining options.
As an inland alternative, we suggest the small whitewashed village of Benahavis which is about 20 minute drive into the mountains.
Anantara Villa Padierna Palace is graciously elegant and stylish, and that could almost describe the typical clientele.
Just walking along the wide corridors looking at the numerous paintings and statues is an experience. The main appeal will be to affluent couples or groups who deliberately choose a location close to, but not on the beach. Of course, golfers, but is by no means a golf-only hotel, the attraction is much greater than that.
Children are accepted but have no direct facilities.
We like the idea of staying 2 nights in Malaga, either before or after your visit. Our suggested hotel in Malaga would be NH, more first-class than deluxe, but perfectly positioned on the edge of the fascinating old quarter.
Note – This area is known as Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun). Quite apt, this southernmost area in south-east Spain generally has bright skies and sunshine most days. Ok, the months November to March can be around the 15-degree mark, maybe too cold to go into the sea but warm enough not to have to worry about numerous layers and clearing snow. From late April onwards the temperatures start to move up reaching the early 30s in the peak summer months. The beaches tend to be sand and pebble, so sea slippers are suggested to avoid the “ouch“.

+ About Southern Spain & Boutique Mallorca
Spain attracts the most British tourists, as well as a huge number who have decided to make Spain their permanent residence. It is a country with fantastic contrasts and maybe a few contradictions, which make it even more interesting. Openly hedonistic in some areas, proudly conservative in others. Wonderful culture and lifestyle.
From the UK to mainland Spain and Mallorca is just over 2 hours, and to the Canary Islands about 4 hours.

Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.
For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.
If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.
