Rosewood Luang Prabang is totally luxurious and stylish.
The Rosewood Luang Prabang is a new luxurious addition to the Luang Prabang boutique scene. Opened in April 2018, the instant impression is WOW – and then it gets even better! A French colonial design theme combined with fine Lao influences.
Located 10 minutes drive outside the UNESCO protected town of Luang Prabang. Wonderfully rural with the accommodation grouped around the tropical garden, mini waterfalls and a fast-flowing river. The airport is 15 minutes drive away.
Rosewood Luang Prabang has just 23 rooms, suites, villas and mountain ridge top tents.
You have a choice of:
Riverside Rooms and Riverside Suites with plunge pool.
Waterfall or Riverside One bedroom Villas with pool.
And finally, at the crest of the hill, a few Zip Up Tented Suites with superb views over the valley below.
The Hotel was designed by Bill Bensley, known throughout Asia for his unique style, combining history and artefacts with contemporary comforts.
Main swimming pool | Spa
Well-positioned bars with the Elephant Bridge option just the place to chill and take in the natural beauty of the location
Restaurant with an emphasis on Asian specialities
Shuttle transport (maybe a cost) can be arranged into town where you will find numerous alternative dining options
Rosewood Luang Prabang is totally stunning. Romantic location, superb accommodation with highly personalised service and attention to detail.
It is at the top end of luxury, price wise, but that just seems to add to the attraction. It is most certainly a place to be enjoyed by the few, not the many.
Children are accepted, although there are no facilities other than what nature has provided. It is essentially romance couples focused.
The selection of accommodation is personal and subjective. DK from Chic really likes the riverside location, whilst Marie-Helene found the hilltop tents incredible and unique.
As there are numerous steps around the hillside linking the accommodation to the public areas, it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
Luang Prabang now has good air connections with many of the major cities in the region. Bangkok is the most population combination, but there are also flights from Saigon, Hanoi & Hong Kong. Ask us for suggestions.
Other hotels designed by Bill Bensley include The Siam in Bangkok, Shinta Mani Angkor in Siem Reap and the incredible Shinta Mani Wild, & Capella Ubud in Bali.

+ About Laos
For the curious traveller, the journey into Laos is a rewarding and fantastic experience. Part of what was known as Indo-China, the collective name for the former French Territories in the region. Whilst Vietnam and Cambodia were prized possessions, Laos was seen more as “buffer” value against invasion. It remains one of the less developed (and least populated) countries in south-east Asia. Laos is a hidden gem, with a less frantic pace than all of its neighbours.
Of all the countries in the region, it is the least openly commercial and interested in western-style consumerism. It has a delightful serene, totally laid back style, with Buddhism dominating every aspect of day to day life.

Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.
For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.
If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.
The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day.
