The Adult only Layana Resort and Spa is attractive and elegant, in a simple, yet instantly luxurious manner…
Located on the quiet island of Koh Lanta, The Layana Resort and Spa is a small luxurious boutique hotel. A highly personable style and superb beachfront position.
You travel from Krabi Airport for 45 minutes to the ferry point and then continue by a 20-minute speedboat ride to the resort.
Note: During the period May to October, when the sea swells are higher, it is probable the transfer will be by road throughout.
Important update. Children 12 years plus are only accepted until 09 January 2023. From 10 January onward hotel will revert back to its adult-only policy (18 years plus).
Layana Resort’s 57 rooms and suites are grouped around the grounds in small clusters.
The Garden Rooms are in units of four, with two rooms on the upper floor and two on the ground, with either balcony or terrace. They are in an open ” U ” shape, stretching through the garden down to the main swimming pool.
The Beach Suites are directly oceanfront, with an integrated living area.
The Ocean Deluxe Villas are set behind the Beach Villas and have elevated roof lounge areas.
In addition, there is a spectacular and exclusive “La Maison” Two Bedroom Villa. It has its own swimming pool, set in a quiet garden located at the rear of the resort.
- Beach front
- Two Swimming pools: One close to the beach front. The other is set back in the garden, close to the spa
- The rather nicely named ‘Linga-longer’ spa, gym & fitness area with Muay Thai boxing classes available

Layana Resort and Spa is attractive and elegant, in a simple, yet instantly luxurious manner.
All the rooms were recently enhanced with a bright contemporary design theme. Fantastic spa – undoubtedly one of the best in the region and a host of leisure activities, including Muay Thai boxing classes. Super beachfront, with generally calm seas between December to April. Slightly higher swells in the summer months.
Although Koh Lanta does not have a lively nightlife scene, some simple local restaurants and bar alternatives are nearby. Whilst many of the better-known Thai resort areas such as Phuket & Samui have rapidly developed, Lanta remains proudly slow-paced. The main attraction will be the beaches but take time to explore the island. It has a lush interior, waterfalls and some quaint villages.
Layana is an adult-only resort and does not accept children under 18 years.
One of the most popular resorts in the entire region with incredible repeat business. Early booking is essential, especially in the months of November to April. During the quieter months of May to October annually, the resort usually takes on a gentle renovation/enhancement programme. This rarely disrupts in-house guests as it is done discreetly, and the results tend to delight returning guests later in upcoming months.
DK from Chic spent two nights here and loved every minute. Unusual for him, as he normally finds something hotels can do better. Particularly raved about the spa treatments.
We think a holiday at Layana combines well with a tour around Thailand. We would suggest The Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok and the 137 Pillars House in Chiang Mai.
There are now direct flights from Chiang Mai to Krabi on Air Asia. Ask us for suggestions.

+ About Krabi & Koh Lanta
Krabi is located on the west coat mainland facing the Andaman Sea, and Koh Lanta is linked by car-ferry and/or speedboat. Both are wonderfully tropical, with limestone islands emerging from the generally turquoise waters. Krabi is more developed and has a lively nightlife scene at Ao Nang. Koh Lanta is quieter, with just a couple of good hotels, offering a glorious and real sense of escapism.

COVID-19 - Updated Information – March 2023.
Virtually all countries worldwide have relaxed their protocols on Covid and there are very few restrictions. However, most countries review this on a month-by-month basis and will take immediate action should cases return or increase.
As a general statement, we would say travel is back to about 90% of its 2019 pre-covid levels – although with maybe less staff than before. This can particularly apply to airports with check-in teams and baggage handlers, and also in hotels. If you are a long-time repeat visitor to a specific hotel it is quite possible you might know your way around the property better than the newly appointed staff – smile and maybe even try to assist!

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
