NH Kuda Rah Resort is a delightfully simple, highly personalised resort.
NH Kuda Rah Resort is boutique in style and size, easy on the eye, and with instant barefoot escapism.
It’s the kind of resort where you arrive and think, “Nice,” and within two days you are saying, “Very nice indeed,” with a rather broad smile.
The resort is located in the South Ari Atoll, 25 minutes by seaplane (daylight hours only) from Male. This area is particularly known for its whale shark sightings, amongst many others.
It is one of the most developed atolls, but each island only has one resort. You may see the low lighting on a neighbouring island—very little in the Maldives is taller than a palm tree—but this generally just adds to the romance.
The resort has a surrounding reef and a man-made breaker wall, ensuring the waves are generally low, with easy access swimming.
NH Kuda Rah Resort has 51 beach and overwater villas, all with private pools. They are all spacious with integrated in-and-out living areas.
Deliberately simple in design but with all the required comforts. Each has easy access to beach or walk down ladder into the sea.
You have:
- Beach Access Jr Suites (90 sqm) with integrated living space and pool located at the back of the villa, ensuring maximum visual privacy.
- Duplex Beachfront Suites starting at 200 sqm – Either one and two bedroom, duplex style with one elevated bedroom. (The elevated bedroom has a steep staircase, which might not be suitable for those with mobility or balance issues).
- Overwater villas with pool starting at 118 sqm or even larger suites (210 sqm) with separate living room and extended sun deck.As all have easy pool access, you do need to be sensibly cautious with younger children still learning to swim.
- Choice of restaurant location and cuisine
- Swimming pool
- Gym
- Spa
- Beach yoga on group basis
- Cooking class
- Non-motorised water sports
- A selection of optional extra-cost snorkelling and diving trips to various sites in the immediate area.
You have a choice of meal plans: breakfast only, half board, full board, and an all-inclusive plan, which also includes alcohol and soft drinks served by the glass during bar opening hours.
NH Kuda Rah Resort is a delightful small island resort, easy to circumnavigate on foot within 15 minutes.
It is not 5-star luxury, in our opinion, but several disagree – but neither is the price. It just delivers superb value for the quality of accommodation and totally chilled ambiance. Good for families and couples.
MH (Marie-Helene) and Dominic from Chic stayed here in spring 2025 and would be delighted to discuss in greater detail. Dominic in particular raved about the underwater life in this area. MH just liked the relaxed style and the soft-sand beach.
The better weather tends to be November to April, when the sea is generally flat and days are bright and sunny. May to October can see increased rainfall, usually in heavy showers, and higher waves.
NH is part of the Minor Group of hotels, which includes Anantara, Avani & Tivoli.

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per-person, per-night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
