Rosselli AX Privilege offers Boutique Luxury in a superb location that is perfect for exploring the historical city.
A charming top-class boutique hotel, highly personalised in all aspects. Originally a 17th-century house, it has been lovingly – and rather expensively- recently restored. It now combines history and pleasing contemporary features.
Located on the pedestrian and aptly named Merchant Street, in the heart of the old quarter of Valletta. A perfect location for exploring the city on foot – plus you have the ferry services to Gozo and Sliema within a 12-minute walk in opposite directions. See Chic Check below.
The airport is about 25 minutes drive away, and the taxi will usually drop you within 20 yards of the hotel.
Rosselli AX Privilege has 25 rooms and suites. Some have inner courtyard views, others look out over the side streets.
You have a choice of:
Comfort (usually located on lower floors). There is a selection of Superior Rooms, Junior and Don Pietro Suites.
All have a simple classic style, with differing colour schemes. Some of the outer rooms have Galleria-style balconies, perfect for observing the life below.
- Choice of on-site restaurants including Michelin star option, plus many more within a very short walk
- Roof-top terrace and bar, with a small swimming pool
Rosselli AX Privilege is a perfect location for exploring the city on foot. Valletta is a typical Latin Mediterranean city with narrow streets and lots of steep hills, cobblestone pathways and steps. Keep this in mind if you have mobility issues as it may not be ideal.
Merchant Street is one of the busiest, with shops and restaurants, some with evening music. In this area, you also have 4 churches, including the famous St John’s Cathedral, all with rather large bells! The ferry point to Gozo, and the 3 small cities across the harbour (Paola, Birgu and Kalkara) is a 12-minute walk away downhill. In the other direction, you have the ferry to Sliema where you have more modern shopping malls.
Both David and Marie-Helene (MH) stayed here in October 2023 and would be delighted to discuss the hotel, Valletta and Malta (including Gozo) in detail.
Just a few doors down you also have the AX St John which is under the same management. Slightly fewer on-site facilities, but offers a lower priced alternative.

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per-person, per-night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
