We think Hotel Tugu Lombok is wonderful, incredibly atmospheric and totally unique.
The Hotel Tugu Lombok is a highly individual, fabulously quirky boutique hotel. You can literally live the destination by just walking around the resort, looking at the unique and original antiques that have been lovingly collected by the owner.
Located on a fine stretch of beach in the north-west corner of the island, 2 hours from the airport.
Note – Lombok was damaged by a volcanic outburst in August 2018. The airport remained open but several tourist areas received some damage.
Hotel Tugu Lombok has just 36 rooms suites and villas.
Each one different in style and shape, but all fully emphasising the owner’s love of history and tradition, merged with pleasing contemporary comforts. The original rooms, in particular, are wonderfully atmospheric.
Several unique dining options.
Superb soft sand beach – One of the very best in the region, with a selection of non-motorised water sports.
Boats can be chartered to travel to the Gili Islands, journey time about 30 minutes.
Close to the hotel, there is a golf course.
We think Hotel Tugu Lombok is wonderful, incredibly atmospheric and totally unique. It’s even spooky in places, with wide-eyed idols looking down at you.
The owners have totally rejected corporate ubiquity and created something that embraces the history of the region. It may not appeal to everyone, but that rather differentiates Tugu. Maybe best appreciated by those with an artistic leaning, even if only for a few days.
The beach is amazing. Without a doubt, one of the very best we have experienced anywhere in Asia.
The Truth About Earthquakes & Volcanoes
Indonesia is located within the dramatically named “Ring of Fire”. As such, earthquakes are almost a daily occurrence in some parts of the archipelago. Anything less than five on the Richter scale of earthquakes hardly breaks a stride locally and is barely reported. There are 130 active volcanoes. Some have been docile for years, others seem to grumble more frequently. So in reality, you can have natural a disturbance, but the chances of it actually happening to you are rare. A little tremble quite probably, anything more serious unlikely. Neither earthquakes or volcanic eruptions are seasonal.

Lombok is a neighbouring island to Bali. Equally scenic, with maybe even better beaches, Lombok is a much quieter, less developed alternative.

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per-person, per-night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
