It is located in the Southern Cardamom National Park, 3 hours’ drive southwest from Phnom Penh, or just under 3 hours’ drive northeast of the resort city of Sihanoukville.
There are flights into Phnom Penh from all of the main cities in the region. There are also regular flights into Siem Reap, where we suggest you stay for three or four days to enjoy the incredible temples of Angkor and then fly to Sihanoukville.
You have a choice of arrival. A 380m zip wire from the resort entrance over rivers and small waterfalls to deposit you safely in the landing zone just in front of the main building. Or for those who prefer something slightly less elevating, you can take a four-wheeled jeep for the short drive from the gate entrance.
Shinta Mani Wild has 15 tent-styled junior suite rooms, including a two-bedroom. All located within sight and sound of the fast-flowing waterfall.
Each has integrated in-and-out living space and is ram-packed with fascinating artefacts from around Cambodia and the greater region.
All are spacious with over 100 sqm of total in-and-out living space, including an ensuite bathroom and viewing deck. In addition, there is one even larger two-bedroom tent.
The tents and the resort have Wi-Fi, but not TV.
Note – the tents are set within the jungle, about a 5-minute walk from headquarters (reception). Escorts are provided for your first walks, but then you are encouraged to experience it yourself. You are given a torchlight for night journeys, plus there are a few signposts. There are some dimly lit steps and bridge crossings en route.
It is all part of the experience, but you need to be comfortable with the sight and sound of nature all around you.

Jackie Onassis travelled through this region with the former King of Cambodia way back in 1967. Much of the style, particularly the luxurious tent interiors, has been lovingly recreated from pictures of her time here.

They thought it was incredible, not only in the setting but also in the total harmonious design. A sensational experience, but it helps to get your bearings before venturing out at night. 5-minute torch-lit pathways seem much longer in the dark!
Both found it to be one of the most unique places they have ever visited. Particularly noteworthy for David, given his advanced age and extensive travel experience!
You are totally at one with nature but in supreme comfort. As they travelled in June, the falls were in full volume!
January to May tends to be the drier season, and the waterfall can appear to be little more than a stream. In the months June to October, there is heavier rain, resulting in majestic, rather noisy falls, locally referred to as the ‘raging sisters’.
Note: The resort is essentially adult-focused, although children over 13 years are accepted.
We suggest the resort as part of a tour around the region. If you are staying in Siem Reap, we suggest Shinta Mani Angkor Resort, a selection of stunning villas, each with a private pool, located in the heart of the city. Alternatively, you may consider the more rustic and rural Phum Baitang. In Phnom Penh, we suggest The Bale for its luxury and quiet riverside location or The Rosewood for its high-rise sophistication.
We do not suggest you stay in Sihanoukville, as it is dominated by low-end Chinese groups, but use it as an entry point to travel to the offshore islands, where we suggest the Royal Sands Koh Rong, Song Saa or the Six Senses. Ask us for details.
