Calabash Grenada is one of the most established and genuinely luxurious boutique hotels in the Caribbean. Constantly award-winning.
Calabash Grenada is known for its romantic style, highly personalised service and attention. It has a super tropical garden setting leading down to an extensive sweep of beach.
Located in the south-west corner of the island, 10 minutes drive from the attractive island capital of St George’s and 5 minutes transfer from the airport.
Calabash is a proud member of Relais & Chateaux. The Rhodes restaurant is one of the most acclaimed in the entire Caribbean.
Calabash Grenada has a total of 30 suites dotted around the garden in a half-circle, in clusters of four.
All are sea-facing across the garden from your terrace (ground floor) or balcony upper floor. The interiors are designed to reflect the Caribbean with the highest contemporary comforts.
You have a choice of:
Junior Suites with integrated living area, One-bedroom Suites some with private pool. In addition, you have a spectacular Penthouse Suite and a selection of villas offering two to five bedrooms.
- Two Restaurants one located at the beach and the other set back in the garden
- A selection of non-motorised water sports can be arranged from the beach club
- In St George’s, probably one of the most photographed capitals in the region, you have a further selection of waterfront dining options.
David from Chic first visited Calabash in the mid-1970s when it was under the original management. It was good even way back then and was rated as one of the top hotels in the region. Much of that traditional style and ambience remains and the enhancements have been extremely subtle, with the impressive list of repeat guests being involved with their annual suggestions and observations. It still has an almost hushed elegance to it, something that the quietly affluent clientele rather appreciate. Loud & brash would be out of place here.
The main attraction will be for couples, Springtime honeymooners and families with older children who have moved beyond the face-painting stage.
Note – Children under 12 years are not accepted mid-January to Mid-March.
Grenada is one of the most scenic of all the islands. The beaches in the south may be the main attraction, but take time to explore. It might move the holiday experience from very good to truly exceptional. In the sea, you have some of the best diving and unique snorkelling, including the underwater sculpture park and off-yacht charter.
On land you can circumnavigate the island in an action-packed day, taking in national parks, charming ramshackle villages, waterfalls and authentic and original chocolate-making estates. Much of the island has seen little tourism development, quite deliberately – it is refreshing different. The Calabash team are able to customise your experiences with private tours tailored to your requirements.
Why not combine Grenada with Barbados?
The islands are just 50 minutes apart but offer contrasting attractions, especially scenic. Our suggested hotel in Barbados would be The Sandpiper.
Please Note: From October 2023 Calabash has introduced a no-smoking/vaping policy in many parts of the hotel. This includes room interiors and balcony/patio areas, all public spaces such as bars & restaurants. There will be a designated smoking area close to the beach.
