Understated and totally charming. The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort does the simple things exceedingly well…
The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort is a charming little hotel, genuinely boutique, with a traditional Thai style, combined with an almost alpine influence. On an extensive stretch of beach in a quiet location, overlooking the offshore Hong Islands. 45 minutes from Krabi Airport and 20 minutes from the lively Ao Nang resort area.

Finally, there are Sea View Suites closer to the beach with an integrated living space. Lavish one bedroom pool suites, located on the beachfront, each with their own swimming pool.

A selection of non-motorised water sports, subject to sea conditions
Excursions to the offshore islands can be easily arranged
Understated and totally charming. The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort does the simple things exceedingly well. The recent enhancements to the room interiors and public areas have been impressive, without detracting from the traditional appeal.
“I stayed here in June 2019. First time for over 10 years. Just loved it. The easy elegance, the contemporary comforts in such a natural setting. Highly individual and totally personalised. ” – Marie -Helene, Chic Locations.
There is little else in the immediate area, apart from a few other hotels within strolling distance along the beach, so it is all about relaxation. The beach here is wide and expansive. Just the place for leisurely beach-combing. The Ao Nang resort area is 20 minutes drive away. Here you will find numerous restaurants and bars. It would not be our choice to stay, but fun for a night out.
There are now direct flights from Chiang Mai to Krabi, so resort combinations are easy to arrange. We would suggest a few nights in Bangkok to start, maybe at The Chatrium Hotel Riverside, and then 3 nights at the Na Nirand in Chiang Mai before flying south to Krabi.

David Revisits Thailand 2022
I last visited Thailand in December 2021. At the time travel was limited and you had to take a test before and on arrival. This time it was much more open. I arrived in Phuket, showed my Thailand pass and vaccination certificates, and collected my case – all within 45 minutes.
Travel is Back – But Keep Your Expectations Realistic
Confidence to travel again has certainly returned as Covid cases around the world continue to drop. Virtually every country (or at least those Chic Locations feature) has relaxed its entry protocols and whilst there are still a few in-destination regulations these are...

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Even Fonder. David Revisits Thailand – Yet Again.I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to revisit Thailand in early December. The last time was in autumn 2019. I have missed it madly and badly. I first visited Thailand in 1976 – yes...
Passport Renewal – Don’t Get Caught Out
Even though the passport office say they can cope with demand at the moment, I have still been told to expect at least 4 /6 weeks for a new passport to arrive. As travel demand increases the longer it will take unless you want to pay extra for fast track…
Maldives – Welcome Back
The UK Government, both the Home office and the Foreign and Commonwealth office, have now approved travel to the Maldives. This is fantastic news and comes at exactly the right time for winter escapism.

Phuket Sandbox Promotion
Although the Sandbox scheme has improved week on week since its introduction in early July, and most of the southern resorts have a high vaccination rate and low cases, the UK Government has chosen to look at the entire country and made it all on the UK Red traffic light NO GO area.
Thai Phuket This Summer – Probably!
It is highly probably the resort island of Phuket will re-open to international travellers from the first week of July 2021. We have a few ideas…

COVID-19 - Updated Information – March 2023.
Virtually all countries worldwide have relaxed their protocols on Covid and there are very few restrictions. However, most countries review this on a month-by-month basis and will take immediate action should cases return or increase.
As a general statement, we would say travel is back to about 90% of its 2019 pre-covid levels – although with maybe less staff than before. This can particularly apply to airports with check-in teams and baggage handlers, and also in hotels. If you are a long-time repeat visitor to a specific hotel it is quite possible you might know your way around the property better than the newly appointed staff – smile and maybe even try to assist!

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
