Something new & exciting! Be one of the first to discover the Irene Pool Villa Resort.

Description & Location

Koh Lipe is located in Satun Province in the extreme south of Thailand. It is part of the Tarutao National Marine Park, an area known for its pristine, clear, coral-rich waters and has some of the best underwater life in the entire SoutheastAsia region.

Travelling to Koh Lipe is all part of the travel experience. Currently you fly to Hat Yai from Bangkok in 70 minutes. You then transfer to Pak Bara jetty and continue for about 90 minutes to Koh Lipe, taking about another 90 minutes.

There are discussions about a seaplane transfer from Phuket, to be introduced sometime in 2025, with a planned journey time of about 45 minutes – ask us for an update.

There are also ferry options from Langkawi, Malaysia. Quicker at 90 minutes, but operational only from November to April.

Koh Lipe and the Irene Pool Villa Resort are all about sea, sand, nature, chilling out, and a real feeling of discovery. It is almost unknown to European travelers—as of yet— which rather adds to the attraction. There is a small walking street within the village, but shopping and nightlife would not be priority attractions.

Accommodation

Irene Pool Villa Resort has 16 villas, all with private pool.

They are split into three categories:

The Sand Beachfront Pool Villas have 110 sqm.

The Sun Beachfront Pool Villas have 118 sqm.

The rather unique Tree Pool Villa (the accommodation is split level and built around a tree) has 138 sqm. Larger, located in the row behind the Sun Beachfront Pool Villas.

As you can see, they are all spacious. Contemporary in design with some nice subtle Thai features.

CHIC CHECK

The Irene Pool Villa Resort is so new even David from Chic has not yet visited – must be the only place in Thailand.

He has tried a couple of times, but the ferry was cancelled due to high seas – it was springtime. There are comparisons on holiday themes with the Maldives, but this is even less discovered. Current travellers are domestic/regional, some backpackers and just a few international visitors, mainly from Northern Europe.

The best time to visit weather-wise is November to early May. The period from mid-May to October can see higher sea swells. which can disrupt ferry schedules. Same-day international connections would not be suggested.

The name “Irene” was chosen because it means peaceful, reflecting the tranquil location of the resort. In Greek mythology Eirene/Irini was the goddess of peace.  The owner wanted to highlight the serene atmosphere that guests experience here. Additionally, the owner has a sister resort called “Idyllic”, which means beautiful. Both names were intentionally chosen to start with the letter “I”, symbolising the connection between the two resorts.

Note: A new wing comprising 3 floors & 39 deluxe rooms, all with full or side sea views, is scheduled to open at the end of 2025. Ask us for an update at the time of enquiry.
