Numo Ιerapetra Beach Resort offers something new and exciting in Crete for the curious traveller. Adults only, 16 years plus.
Numo Ιerapetra Beach Resort is a charming boutique styled low rise hotel with the emphasis on tradition and authenticity at every turn. It is at the heart of Cretan hospitality – local stones, fabrics and woods used in the design. The food is either local garden or sea to the plate, with a proud regional and Mediterranean twist. Same applies to the wines – yes selection of international and Greek but local options very much to the fore. And of course, the majority of the team taken from the local villages.
It is located on the south-east coast, 90 minutes from Heraklion Airport , driving initially along the north shore before crossing the mountain range. The South-East area is much more traditional and slower paced that other parts of Crete and that is one of the major attractions . Here it is generally travellers, not tourists – people who want to experience the real soul of the island. It has been barely touched by high rise development. It is one of the most arable parts of the island with the emphasis on farming and then gradually tourism. The beaches tend to be dark volcanic sand, and it is rated as one of the best dive areas in the region with crystal clear waters .
The local town of Ierapetra is largest on the south coast – we don’t think it has any competition, and maybe is the 4th biggest on Crete, but at the last count it was still less than 10,000 people. It does have an interesting history, occupied for some time by Romans, Phoenicians & Ottomans, and it is worth discovering as you have ornate churches, small shops & tavern’s –it is only 5 – minute drive from the hotel.
Numo Ιerapetra Beach Resort has 132 rooms and suites.
All have garden view and are in low rise clusters on either ground or first floor. Some are closer to the beach. All are designed to make you feel you are in authentic Crete, but with pleasing modern comforts.
Essentially, you have Atérre Retreats which are the smallest and introduction rate, still OK for two persons as one king bed. Some have outdoor living space.
Then you move up to Evergreen Retreats which are larger, and again some have outdoor living space. The Evergreen Junior Suites have integrated indoor & outdoor living space.
The and two-bedroom suites have their own plunge pools.
- A waterfront beach resort
- Several restaurant options, including a coffee shop
- Dive centre and private cruise options
- A selection of water sports can be arranged at the specialist centre in Ierapetra, subject to weather conditions
- On land, this area offers hiking & horse-riding, most of it remains farmland
At Chic we are well travelled but we are yet to personally sample this hotel – it is on the list. But David knows the area and thinks it is special for those who deliberately want to shun commercialised tourism. Many of the visitors will be travellers from the mainland or maybe part of the Greek diaspora in North America or Australia and have come home to visit their roots.
It is a very different part of Crete, a new discovery and that, to us, is part of the appeal. You get to use the developed north coast gateways and infrastructure, but you stay in an area unattractive to the masses. For those unsure, we can easily create a twin-centre option for you, maybe combining your stay with Daios Cove close to Agios Nikolas.
The hotel is usually open late April to the end of October.

+ About Greece
Greece is truly a fantastic country, with superb resorts, a combination of contemporary styles and classic designs. History of course, with Athens well worth two or three days, if your time permits. Delightful beaches and traditional villages. And without doubt some of the most hospitable and friendly people.
Most of the resort hotels close at the end of October and start reducing facilities from mid October onwards, as occupancy decreases. Equally in May, hotel facilities are opened gradually, depending on occupancy, usually fully operational by mid June.

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per-person, per-night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
