Intercontinental Danang – total luxury in style & location
The full name is the Intercontinental Sun Peninsula Resort, something that says a lot about the location. Without doubt, one of the most openly luxurious resorts in the entire region. It blends obvious contemporary luxury with a traditional Vietnamese design theme.
The location is superb, an exclusive “private“ beach with a lush tropical forest backdrop ( see Chic Check below).
Danang Airport is 45 minutes drive, Danang City 30 minutes. The wonderfully atmospheric Hoi An 50 minutes and the historic city of Hue about 2 hours drive further north.
Intercontinental Danang has 189 rooms, suites and villas spread over the extensive private estate.
All are spacious, starting at 70sqm with clear sea views.
You have a choice of:
Classic rooms, Club Terrace and One Bedroom Penthouse Suites with private pool.
There are One Bedroom Beach Suites with pool and then a selection of Speciality Villas. Each has a real sense of destination – and humour – at virtually every turn.
- Two main swimming pools
- Numerous innovative specialty restaurants with differing cuisines and locations
- Spa
- Gym
- Kids club
- And the beach – extensive soft sand and exclusive, reached by garden walk, buggy or funicular lift
- Shuttle service to both Danang City and Hoi An several times daily .
Many think of Intercon’s as being mainly high quality corporate hotels . Here the high quality is obvious but it is much more of a complete upscale resort .
The architecture and design is the work of Bill Bensley, who is known for his unquestioned style with a quirky sense of humour.
The dining options, both in cuisine and location, are superb.
The location is north of Danang City, crossing into the mountain range. It is exclusive with a dense forest back drop, complete with monkeys. Very different from other beach resorts in Danang / Hoi An where the area can be barren or with numerous other high rise neighbouring hotels.
David and Marie-Helene stayed here in June 2024 and would be delighted to share their experience, but allow a few minutes, they were both rather impressed.
The recently opened Capella in Hanoi is under the same ownership (not management) and has a similar design style, albeit much smaller and boutique themed. The two hotels would make an interesting combination.

+ About Vietnam
Indochina is the collective name for Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, the former French territories in the region. Despite huge changes in the last decade, the French influence still remains in majestic colonial buildings, the art scene and of course the food. Vietnam is also the country that is developing fast with many new hotels and resorts, but it still remains a totally enthralling place to visit.

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per-person, per-night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
