La Vela is ultra-contemporary, with clean lines. It has a rather cool ambiance, with blue and white colours dominating both inside and outside. It has a super range of activities and will appeal to adults and families.
It is located on Bang Niang Beach, one of the busiest in the region given its prime proximity to restaurants. La Vela is a sister hotel to the established La Flora and Casa de La Flora.
Khao Lak village is about a 5-minute walk, with the main street about 10 minutes away, passing numerous restaurants and shops, including quite a few “Ranjit Armani “ style tailors. Phuket Airport is a scenic 70-minute drive south.

Each offers a spacious living area of 52 square meters. They are bright & modern, with the warmth of Thailand coming in the subtle colour contrasts.
The rooms are split between two wings: Poolside and Oceanside. The Poolside is the more family-focused area, with the Oceanside intended for couples.

Family rooms – Pool Side – These can accommodate two adults and two children and have partitioned living area. (There are only 24 of these, so early booking essential).

Pool Access Grand – Located on the ground floor of the Oceanside Wing.

La Vela Khao Lak offers superb accommodation in a wonderful location, with dining and market options close by.
The idea is to subtly separate the two areas between family and adults, but with mingling space where the two come together. A very welcome addition to our Khao Lak selection.
Personally, we think it is ideal for those with slightly older children who have graduated beyond the face-painting stage.
Khao Lak is generally at its best weather-wise from mid-November through early May, when the days are usually bright and sunny and the seas are generally calm. From June to October, the red flag tends to appear more often, with some beach erosion and higher waves. During these months some village shops/restaurants will either close or operate on reduced hours.
Khao Lak can easily be combined with tours around Thailand.
Think of 3 nights in Bangkok, where we would suggest Chatrium Riverside. Followed by 3 nights in Chiang Mai at Na Nirand. Then fly straight from Chiang Mai to Phuket with a simple road transfer up to La Vela for 6 nights of beach relaxation.
