Glorious Beaches

Quick Facts

Khao Lak Thailand is located on the mainland facing the Andaman Sea, linked to the island of Phuket by a causeway bridge. Come to Khao Lak Thailand for the glorious beaches with the stunning Khao Sok National Park in the background. You fly into Phuket and then it is a scenic 60-minute road transfer along the coast.

Weatherwise

Like Phuket, generally at its best from November to April when the days are usually bright and sunny and the sea wonderfully inviting and wide smiles. During the summer months, you see some beach erosion and higher sea swells and longer faces.

Pleasures

Although development is coming, Khao Lak still offers a much more gentle quieter pace than Phuket. There are some restaurants in the village (reduced in the summer season), however, most of the dining options will be within the hotels. Nightlife is equally limited, although to many that is actually part of the attraction. The beaches are excellent, particularly during the winter season, and a speedboat ride away you have the Similan Islands with some of the best diving and snorkelling in the region. The wonderfully lush Khao Sok National Park offers a range of eco-adventures, including elephant trekking. The easy access from Phuket airport, with its numerous flights, is a real plus.

Realities

As Phuket gets busier, many clients are now finding the option of Khao Lak Thailand more attractive. However whilst there are several new hotels and tourism is on the march, Khao Lak offers low key shopping and nightlife so if they are priorities you might be disappointed. Here the pleasures are more simple and natural.
