High-quality sleek-new-chic in town! The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon is sure to impress.
The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon opened in the summer of 2022. A new chic, sleek ultra-contemporary addition to the Bangkok hotel scene. It is located within the ground to 18th floors of the iconic head-turning pixelated 78-storey King Power Mahanakhon Building, currently dominating the Bangkok skyline.
It is well-positioned between Silom and Sathorn. The Chao Phraya river and the atmospheric old town are about 15 minutes drive and in the opposite direction, you have the green space of Lumpini Park. The Skytrain station of Chong Nonsi is just in front. From here it is just 3 stops to the main Silom Square shopping area with its numerous retail malls or two stops south to the river. The two airports in Bangkok are about a 55-minute drive away.
The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon has 155 guest rooms spread over 10 floors. All have floor-to-ceiling windows allowing you to fully appreciate Bangkok.
You have a choice of:
Prince Rooms (the introduction rate, 29 Sqm, so a little on the compact side but perfectly adequate for a one or two-night stay).
The Standard King rooms are larger at 40sqm and offer a king bed.
The especially suggested Corner Rooms are 55sqm and offer either twin or king bed, with integrated extra living space, and probably offer the most dramatic views.
You then have a few one-bedroom and speciality suites.
- Several award-winning restaurants, known for their setting almost as much as the cuisine. Try the elevated locations as the views are incredible, some others are almost hidden behind secret panels
- A couple have already received rave reviews, even in advance of the hotel’s official opening
- There is a glass floor viewing deck on the very top floor – bouncing is not suggested
- 24-Hour Gym
- Large Swimming Pool
The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon is a real talking point hotel due to its incredible exterior. Inside it is modern and sleek, sometimes deliberately quirky, with just an occasional reference point to Thai culture. The design is from Spaniard Jaime Hayon, who is known for his minimalist, less-is-more colourful themes.
The restaurants and bar options are amazing, so make a point of visiting even if you are not staying. You do need to be comfortable with heights as some are elevated, allowing you to overview Bangkok, dramatic both day & night. The swimming pool is on the 6th floor
We think the appeal will be to couples, curious high-flying travellers wanting a real quality statement hotel. We have mentioned the shopping malls around Siam Square. Equally impressive and riverside location is IconSiam. An incredible experience even if you are not buying. Make it late afternoon/early evening to coincide with the light show.
The Standard group likes to show its brand name upside down – no wonder it is popular with trendy Australians!
David from Chic stayed here in June (2023) and really liked the fresh quirky style, the friendly service and the constant discovery.

+ About Bangkok
Bangkok Thailand – The bustling capital city of Thailand and one of the main gateways for travel around the country and the region. Towering high rises dwarfing ornate and colourful temples. Traditional Klongs (waterways) alongside packed roads. Smartly dressed executives walking alongside saffron robed Buddhist monks, usually with both on their mobile phone. Flying time 12 hours from the UK.

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers. Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May - June level and about 50% more in Asia. For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per-person, per-night hotel guide, excluding air fare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.
