Description & Location

Istoria Hotel Santorini is a new luxurious addition to our Santorini selection. The name Istoria is inspired by the Greek word meaning storytelling.

Located on the renowned  Perivolos Beach, a 3km stretch of volcanic ink-black sand leading down to the midnight blue waters of the Aegean on the relatively quieter southeastern side of the island . 20 minutes drive for the airport. 15 minutes from the lively capital, Thira .

Istoria is under the same experienced management team as Vedema and Mystique. Istoria is a proud member of Design Hotels.

Istoria Hotel has 12 guest rooms, split into 6 different styles.

All are sea facing and are Junior Style with integrated living space. Each guest room has been named after storytelling in 6 languages.

You have a choice of :

Saga Suites. 38Sqm. Taken from the Icelandic word Saga, meaning storytelling, located on the upper (first floor). Three Suites

Recit Suites. 38sqm.  From the French word, similar features to above but located on the ground floor. Three Suites

Tarina Suites. 37sqm. Taken from the Finnish word for storytelling, slightly smaller interior living space but with outside plunge pool. Ground Floor. Three Suites

Rakonto Suite. 45sqm. In Esperanto, Rakonto is storytelling. Elevated on the hotels 2nd floor, with some of the best views, with two terraces.

Conte Suite. 40sqm. Catalan influenced and named, located on the first floor with good beach views.

Storia Suite. 50sqm. From the Italian word, the most exclusive and expensive accommodation, with generous in and out living space on the 2nd floor.

Facilities and Activities

Beach front restaurant specialising in innovative Mediterranean cuisine with the emphasis on seasonal vegetables and of course fish straight from the sea
Attractive Swimming pool
Exclusive area on Perivolos Beach with sunbeds
Asian Influenced spa
A Shuttle operates to the Vedema hotel, 10 minutes away in the traditional  village of Mesalohori where you have dining options
Eco activities such as horse back riding and mountain treks can be arranged through concierge as well as visits to local vineyards . Santorini wine is some of the most acclaimed and award winning , with the volcanic soil producing a quite unique strong fruity taste .

Istoria Hotel Santorini delivers a simple and rather chic Greek elegance.

The design feature is deliberately rustic Santorini with a real sense of destination, yet with supreme comfort.

Istoria Hotel Santorini is essentially couples /romance focused. As a result, children under 14 years are not accepted .

We think the combination with Mystique, located in the jet set Oia area, with its incredible views  restaurants and boutique shopping, would make a holiday of real contrast and romance.

David Revisits Thailand 2022

David Revisits Thailand 2022

I last visited Thailand in December 2021. At the time travel was limited and you had to take a test before and on arrival. This time it was much more open. I arrived in Phuket, showed my Thailand pass and vaccination certificates, and collected my case – all within 45 minutes.

Travel is Back – But Keep Your Expectations Realistic

Confidence to travel again has certainly returned as Covid cases around the world continue to drop. Virtually every country (or at least those Chic Locations feature) has relaxed its entry protocols and whilst there are still a few in-destination regulations these are...

Passport Renewal – Don’t Get Caught Out

Even though the passport office say they can cope with demand at the moment, I have still been told to expect at least 4 /6 weeks for a new passport to arrive. As travel demand increases the longer it will take unless you want to pay extra for fast track…

Maldives – Welcome Back

Maldives – Welcome Back

The UK Government, both the Home office and the Foreign and Commonwealth office, have now approved travel to the Maldives. This is fantastic news and comes at exactly the right time for winter escapism.

Many islands in the Caribbean have been placed on the Green Watch list. This means the islands will have their vaccination success monitored by the UK Government on a weekly basis…

Phuket Sandbox Promotion

Phuket Sandbox Promotion

Although the Sandbox scheme has improved week on week since its introduction in early July, and most of the southern resorts have a high vaccination rate and low cases, the UK Government has chosen to look at the entire country and made it all on the UK Red traffic light NO GO area.

It is highly probably the resort island of Phuket will re-open to international travellers from the first week of July 2021. We have a few ideas…

New Normal Pragmatism

New Normal Pragmatism

The present traffic like system for travel introduced by the UK Government was maybe well-intentioned but has probably lead to even more confusion. So this is an attempt to clarify, in deliberately simplistic terms.

Click for Booking Terms, Price Guides & Flight Information

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers.
Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.

For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.

For the Mediterranean & Canary IslandsCaribbeanArabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.

*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.

If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.

The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day. For updated information please refer to the UK Government travel advice This will provide you with information on entry requirements including COVID-19 testing and any quarantine stipulations,  especially on return to the UK. As you will know this information is constantly changing, frequently at short notice as evidenced by our own Government actions.
