Masseria Fontanelle, Puglia, Italy

Masseria Fontanelle is a great choice to discover the soul of Puglia

Description & Location

Masseria Fontanelle is genuinely boutique in every aspect, this is simple luxury for the senses.

The opportunity to sample this truly authentic part of Italy, famed for its slow pace, olive groves,  superb cuisine & wines, small villages and towns. Less known, almost intentionally maybe, are the dramatic cliffs, the long sandy beach and the clear azure sea.

Masseira Fontanelle was originally a small convent in the 17th century, tucked away in a corner of the Ugento Nature Park. The style remains traditional with vaulted ceilings, white lime and stone walls. Cobbled pathways and gardens with an abundance of flowers, fruits and vegetables.

If Italy is shaped like a boot, the Puglia (Apulia in Italian) region is the heel, and the Salento is on the extreme southern tip. The charming town of Lecce with its baroque churches and monuments is 40 minutes drive, Brindisi airport 90 minutes and Bari Airport just under 3 hours.

There are various beaches within a short drive or an easy bicycle ride. The nearest is at Lido Pineta, 5 minutes by free shuttle at scheduled times. Here you have sunbeds and umbrellas included.

Note – The style is essentially couples/adult-focused but children above 12 years are accepted.

CHIC CHECK

Masseria Fontanelle is very different and that is part of the appeal. For Independent travellers who want to immerse themselves in the personality of Puglia.

Pleasing on-site facilities, plus this area is rich in scenery and culture. There are several wonderfully atmospheric villages to explore, such as Gallipoli, which has a vibrant and rather liberal art scene, as well as historical interest.

Car hire would be suggested.
