Le Vimarn Cottages Resort and Spa is the kind of property more frequently found in the Indian Ocean or Caribbean, than Thailand.
Located on the quieter west coast of Koh Samed at Ao Prao beach. To reach the island you travel south from Bangkok for 2 hours (slightly less from the airport) to Rayong and then take a 25 minute speedboat ride to the resort.
Le Vimarn Cottages Resort and Spa has 31 cottages dotted around the hillside overlooking the cove beach.
Each thatched roofed cottage is spacious, wonderfully authentic, with the emphasis on local teak both in and out. Each cottage is sea facing across the gardens. Some cottages are ground floor, whilst others are elevated in the row behind with stairs linking to the main board walk.

It is not deluxe, but a more first-class authentic tropical flavoured (and a lower priced) option to its sister property, The Paradee.
Koh Samed is generally quiet, so you go for the relaxation and chill out. Although Sai Kaew on the opposite east coast is lively with some restaurant/ shopping options. There is a tuk-tuk shuttle, local cost, 20 minutes across the island on the newly completed tarmac road – the only one on the island – or on the dirt track.
Note – Koh Samed can also be spelt Samet – Same place!
