The Northolme Resort and Spa is as removed from a typical Hilton as you could imagine. This is totally unique, both in style and setting.
Northolme Resort and Spa is wonderfully boutique with spacious luxurious villas, combining local woods, evocative Indian Ocean designs and contemporary comforts.
It is located in the north-west of the island, 15 minutes from the capital Victoria. A lovely 30 minutes scenic drive from the airport travelling up the east coast and then taking the mountain road across the island.
Northolme is essentially all about romance and simple pleasures so its main appeal will be to couples. Children under 13 not accepted.
Northolme Resort and Spa has 56 villas.
All are built on the hillside in staircase fashion. They are all spacious Junior Suite style (starting from 90sqm) with an integrated living area and patio. All are sea-facing, with some directly on the rocks above the ocean. Several of the villas have their own plunge pool. These are especially suggested for their location and sense of occasion.
- Several restaurants in differing locations
- The beach is split into two small coves.
- Snorkelling here is particularly good, but as the beach tends to shelve quickly the sea is best enjoyed by the more confident swimmer.
- The more expansive Beau Vallon beach is just a few minutes drive south or a short walk and here you will also find some dining options.
Northolme Resort and Spa is one of the most established hotels in The Seychelles.
David from Chic fondly remembers it from the 1970s and not a lot of people can say that. It was the home for novelists Somerset Maugham & Ian Fleming for a few years, and even Archbishop Makarios (of Cyprus fame) was exiled there. Much of the wonderful history and original design still remains, although, now completely updated in a rather subtle and considerate manner.
The hotel is built on a hillside so you need to be comfortable with steps, nature and soft lighting.
