Opened in 2023, BASK Gili Meno takes accommodation and overall style to a different level in the Gili Islands.
Immaculate contemporary minimalist design combined with flourishes of European & Asian art. In just a short time it has attracted so much positive publicity and is attracting the hi-so (high society) from around Asia and especially Europe and even Latin America. In many ways, it does resemble a top-class beach boutique resort found on the Riviera or Ibiza.
Gili Meno is regarded as the quietest of the three islands, maybe the most simple. This makes the opening of BASK even more stunning. It is directly opposite Gili Trawangan, and you can see the bright lights but rarely hear the noise.
Most clients arrive on the ferry services from Bali and Lombok that go into either Gili T or Gili Air, and then you take a 4-minute speedboat to Meno and jump ashore. If we have booked the ferry, we can coordinate the timings to make it all seamless.
BASK Gili Meno has just 30 villas, either set facing the sea or within the garden.
You have a choice of:
- Studio room with plunge pool (60 m)
- Studio with larger pool (106 m)
- Loft Suites which are split-level with garden pool (168 m)
- One-bedroom villas (165 m)
- Two-bedroom villas (226 m)
- And finally 3-bedroom villas (357 m)
- Main swimming pool
- There is also an intimate underground nightclub, with one wall looking into the swimming pool. Be aware!
- The Bask beach club offers international cuisine, and that is where there are, on most days, DJ sessions from 3pm to 6:30pm, followed by live acoustics from 6:30pm till 9pm
- Pomona is the second restaurant with South American and gluten-free cuisine. Pomona restaurant has an Andalusian architecture and Latin-styled music is played from a playlist
- There are a few simple dining options close by
- This area is one of the most popular for snorkelling; you will usually see turtles almost immediately, and the sunken statues are just offshore
- The hotel provides snorkelling equipment and reef shoes
I was recommended to see the resort and had received rave reports. It exceeded all expectations in virtually every way.
The quality is outstanding, both in the public areas and the room quality. BASK is top quality and priced accordingly but the clientele see that as attraction not a determent.
It would not be out of place in the most famous resorts in Asia & Europe, and the fact this is Gili Meno makes it even more unique. The award winning wine cellar is one of the most impressive I have seen – could have spent several hours just discovering.
The beaches on Meno tend to be white coral and can have an ouch factor so reef shoes would be suggested (Provided by BASK upon request). However, this usually means the offshore underwater life is easily accessible
