Coral Reef Club is another Caribbean property with a long-standing and totally deserved reputation for excellent service and discreet luxury. Located on the west coast in the Parish of St James in a prime location within 12 acres of mature tropical gardens. 45 minutes from the airport and 25 minutes to Bridgetown.
The resort area of Holetown, with its boutiques, restaurants, and rather impressive—and expensive—Limegrove shopping mall, is just a few minutes drive away, or you can walk within 10 minutes using the seafront pathway.
There are several golf courses nearby. Speightstown, with its collection of upscale beach bars, is 10 minutes drive up the coast.
Coral Reef has 88 rooms dotted throughout the extensive tropical gardens leading down to the long, narrow beach.
The Garden Rooms (*there are a few purposely built for the single traveller and priced accordingly), Cottages, or Superior Junior Suites are all located in the gardens with integrated living areas.
The luxury Junior Suites are closer to the beach.
Luxury Cottages and Luxury Suites enjoy a separate living room and plunge pool.
The Plantation Suites have an even more traditional Caribbean theme, with a terrace and plunge pool. No Children under 12 years.
Each room or suite is named after a tropical flower, fruit, or tree.

Coral Reef Club is a part of Caribbean history. The West Indian Colonial/gingerbread design style rooms and suites emphasise elegant, subtle, conservative tones. The ambience and the wonderfully mature and expansive tropical gardens complement it all perfectly. Unsurprisingly, this is a hotel with an incredible list of repeat clients.
The atmosphere is old time elegance. In the restaurants during the day, they request cover-ups over swimwear for the ladies and T-shirts with sleeves or knee-length shorts for the men—and hats might be out of place. After 7 pm, shorts are only allowed in the Reef Bar terrace; the main dining areas require long trousers and collared or Neru shirts. Applies year round and especially in the winter months—at the request of the many repeat guests!
David from Chic has known the hotel and the O’Hara family for 50 years—yes, he really is that vintage! During that time, he has seen clients who first travelled as honeymooners now return with their grandchildren. The hotel has also undergone a subtle evolution, which may go unnoticed at first glance but is always appreciated. Contemporary touches infusion with Caribbean elegance.
Deliberately traditional, it is part of the appeal and can be one of the reasons why it is so popular year after year. And it’s not just the design but in the service. Children under 12 are not accepted mid-January to the end of February. Those under 5 are not permitted in the restaurant or bars after 7 pm.
The hotel is particularly popular with families in the summer months. The Coral Reef Club has several enticing offers and attractions around this time, including tennis, swimming, and sailing lessons.
