La Flora Resort and Spa is a good value, family focused first class centrally located resort
Nightly price from £58 per person for travel in summer months | £98 in the winter months
Higher prices apply over Peak winter periods
La Flora Resort and Spa is an attractive superior first class hotel, located on the popular Bang Niang beach in the heart of Khao Lak Village. You have several restaurant options within waking distance (see Chic Check). Sister property to the rather funky Casa de La Flora and the newly opened La Vela. Phuket Airport is 70 minutes scenic drive away.
The hotel completely closed for much of 2019 whilst a total and expensive enhancement took place . This included many of the rooms and virtually all of the guest facilities . The doors reopened on the 01st November . The details and images below reflect the ” old ” hotel , and these will be updated as soon as new photography has been received ,
La Flora Resort and Spa has a choice of 138 rooms and Villas
They spread over the two original wings which face the garden, and the relatively newer pool wing. All are spacious, with traditional Thai design features.
You have a choice of:
The Deluxe Rooms are 42 sqm and are located either on the 2nd or 3rd floors of the garden wing or the upper floors of the pool wing.
The Studio Rooms are on the lower floor of the garden wing, larger at 48 sqm with alcove bedding area. Particularly popular with families or for couples requiring extra living space .
The Pool Access Rooms are on the lower floor of the Pool Wing.
In the Garden area you have 13 Freestanding Villas, of which 4 are directly sea facing. All of the villas are 54 sqm with in and out living space. Two of the villas can be converted into a 2 bedroom with shared use of Jacuzzi.
Two swimming pools, with one at beach front and the other set back in the gardens
Choice of restaurant, plus you have several dining and bar options close by, including the sister hotels Casa La Flora and La Vela
Spa
Super beach particularly in the months of November through to May.
Good location especially for those who want to walk into the village for alternative dining. There are several options close by and many more in the walk up the village main street. We would describe La Flora Resort and Spa as a good superior first class, and great value for the quality on offer. It traditionally has been one of the most popular hotels with Northern Europeans, as with much of Khao Lak, but in recent years it is attracting more English speaking clients.
Khao Lak is at its most popular in our winter and early Spring months, when most of the village shops and restaurants are fully operational. The sea conditions generally good in these months . In the summer period it is usually quieter, the beaches maybe narrower and the red flag comes out more often, but the prices drop considerably.

David Revisits Thailand 2022
I last visited Thailand in December 2021. At the time travel was limited and you had to take a test before and on arrival. This time it was much more open. I arrived in Phuket, showed my Thailand pass and vaccination certificates, and collected my case – all within 45 minutes.
Travel is Back – But Keep Your Expectations Realistic
Confidence to travel again has certainly returned as Covid cases around the world continue to drop. Virtually every country (or at least those Chic Locations feature) has relaxed its entry protocols and whilst there are still a few in-destination regulations these are...

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Even Fonder. David Revisits Thailand – Yet Again.I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to revisit Thailand in early December. The last time was in autumn 2019. I have missed it madly and badly. I first visited Thailand in 1976 – yes...
Passport Renewal – Don’t Get Caught Out
Even though the passport office say they can cope with demand at the moment, I have still been told to expect at least 4 /6 weeks for a new passport to arrive. As travel demand increases the longer it will take unless you want to pay extra for fast track…

Maldives – Welcome Back
The UK Government, both the Home office and the Foreign and Commonwealth office, have now approved travel to the Maldives. This is fantastic news and comes at exactly the right time for winter escapism.

Green Watch Excitement in The Caribbean
Many islands in the Caribbean have been placed on the Green Watch list. This means the islands will have their vaccination success monitored by the UK Government on a weekly basis…

Phuket Sandbox Promotion
Although the Sandbox scheme has improved week on week since its introduction in early July, and most of the southern resorts have a high vaccination rate and low cases, the UK Government has chosen to look at the entire country and made it all on the UK Red traffic light NO GO area.

Thai Phuket This Summer – Probably!
It is highly probably the resort island of Phuket will re-open to international travellers from the first week of July 2021. We have a few ideas…

New Normal Pragmatism
The present traffic like system for travel introduced by the UK Government was maybe well-intentioned but has probably lead to even more confusion. So this is an attempt to clarify, in deliberately simplistic terms.

Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.
For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.
If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.
The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day. For updated information please refer to the UK Government travel advice https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice. This will provide you with information on entry requirements including COVID-19 testing and any quarantine stipulations, especially on return to the UK. As you will know this information is constantly changing, frequently at short notice as evidenced by our own Government actions.
