Vedema Santorini appeals to both couples and families, looking for space and an elegant style that fully captures the spirit of Santorini…
Vedema Santorini is a Luxury Collection Resort, located in the small village of Mesalohori on the south-east coast, 15 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from Thira Town. An elegant, stylish hotel, with whitewashed walls, arches and attractive facilities. As with most hotels in Santorini, elevated with particularly good sunset views, with a vineyard adjacent (the wines from Santorini are award winning and we think are amongst the very best in the Med.)
Vedema Santorini has a selection of 46 individually designed suites and villas.
All have a bright Mediterranean design, simply elegant taking advantage of natural sunlight and shadows. The Dorian suites are the introduction grade and have an integrated living area, whilst the Aegean suites are slightly larger. The Olympian suites have their own plunge pool. And then you have two additional, and rather special Family suites with either two or three bedrooms.
Volcanic sand beach club located 5 minutes away by shuttle (seasonal opening, dependent on weather, usually June to September)
Gym
Main swimming pool
Restaurants, including a really atmospheric wine cellar option, plus several more in the village square just minutes from the hotel entrance, and many more in Thira.
Art Gallery. Children are accepted & welcomed.
Vedema Santorini appeals to both couples and families, looking for space and an elegant style that fully captures the spirit of Santorini. We like the traditional village design style, the spacious accommodation and the authentic charm of the area. It does not have the dramatic cliff top views of the Caldera or Oia, here the vista is more gentle overlooking farm lands, vineyards and the whitewashed villages.
Something you might want to consider would be a twin-centre, with say your first 3 nights at Vedema and then moving to the equally impressive adult only Mystique for 3 or 4 nights. A wonderful combination that would give you fantastic scenic contrasts, but an equally high standard of accommodation.
Note – Mystique does not accept children under 14 years.

David Revisits Thailand 2022
I last visited Thailand in December 2021. At the time travel was limited and you had to take a test before and on arrival. This time it was much more open. I arrived in Phuket, showed my Thailand pass and vaccination certificates, and collected my case – all within 45 minutes.
Travel is Back – But Keep Your Expectations Realistic
Confidence to travel again has certainly returned as Covid cases around the world continue to drop. Virtually every country (or at least those Chic Locations feature) has relaxed its entry protocols and whilst there are still a few in-destination regulations these are...

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Even Fonder. David Revisits Thailand – Yet Again.I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to revisit Thailand in early December. The last time was in autumn 2019. I have missed it madly and badly. I first visited Thailand in 1976 – yes...
Passport Renewal – Don’t Get Caught Out
Even though the passport office say they can cope with demand at the moment, I have still been told to expect at least 4 /6 weeks for a new passport to arrive. As travel demand increases the longer it will take unless you want to pay extra for fast track…

Maldives – Welcome Back
The UK Government, both the Home office and the Foreign and Commonwealth office, have now approved travel to the Maldives. This is fantastic news and comes at exactly the right time for winter escapism.

Green Watch Excitement in The Caribbean
Many islands in the Caribbean have been placed on the Green Watch list. This means the islands will have their vaccination success monitored by the UK Government on a weekly basis…

Phuket Sandbox Promotion
Although the Sandbox scheme has improved week on week since its introduction in early July, and most of the southern resorts have a high vaccination rate and low cases, the UK Government has chosen to look at the entire country and made it all on the UK Red traffic light NO GO area.

Thai Phuket This Summer – Probably!
It is highly probably the resort island of Phuket will re-open to international travellers from the first week of July 2021. We have a few ideas…

Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.
For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.
If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.
The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day. For updated information please refer to the UK Government travel advice https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice. This will provide you with information on entry requirements including COVID-19 testing and any quarantine stipulations, especially on return to the UK. As you will know this information is constantly changing, frequently at short notice as evidenced by our own Government actions.
