Theatre Residence is totally unique. Perfect for the curious independent traveller…
A three-night stay will start from £158 per person sharing a double room | Inclusive of transfers and breakfast daily
Theatre Residence is a wonderfully unique hotel, both in its style and location. Contemporary clean-lined comforts seamlessly blending with a totally authentic and historic location in the old quarter of Thornburi and Rakangositaram. You are just a few minutes walk from the Chao Phyra River, Wat Arun temple and the Grand Palace directly visible on the opposite river bank.
Theatre Residence is built on the original site of the Patravadi Theatre, Bangkok’s first open-air theatre and centre for contemporary arts with many original artefacts decorating the public areas. Since the hotel opened it has been lovingly handed down through the owning family generations.
The airport is about 60 minutes drive away.
Theatre Residence has 82 rooms spread over 4 floors with the majority facing the garden courtyard.
You have a choice of:
Superior Rooms and slightly larger Deluxe Rooms.
The Premier Rooms are ground floor with direct patio garden access.
The River View Rooms are top floor.
Many local dining options within a few minutes walk.
Great Riverside location perfect for exploring.
Theatre Residence is just the type of hotel Chic love to be associated with. Bangkok has so many great hotels, but Theatre offers comfort with the luxury coming in the real adventure of the area.
It will not appeal to everyone but, to us, that is part of the attraction. Think of the Gothic area of Barcelona. This is the Bangkok version, but maybe without the tourists! Perfect for the confident and curious traveller. Traditional market alleyways filled with stalls, klongs (river ways), local shops and restaurants.
We arrange airport transfers with the hotel and sometimes if the narrow approach road is busy, you will walk the last 50 yards – assisted of course – but that is all part of the experience.
For the right client, Theatre Residence will offer something totally different, giving you the opportunity to sample the real Bangkok with reassuring sleep-time comfort.
Next to the hotel, there is a school. You need to be prepared to hear children enjoying themselves, singing the National anthem and occasional playing marching music. It’s all part of the fun of the area. Just 2 minutes walk you have a very impressive temple and in the opposite direction a lively authentic market…
There is a metro station close by, plus a river jetty, so getting around is so very easy.

For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.
If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.
The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day. This will provide you with information on entry requirements including COVID-19 testing and any quarantine stipulations, especially on return to the UK.
