Dare to be So Different with So Sofitel Bangkok. There is no better place to stand out.
So Sofitel Bangkok is a trendy, ultra modern and luxurious high rise hotel. Totally hip and cool, deliberately quirky, with design influence from Christian LaCroix. Well located in on the corner of Sathorn and Rama 1V roads, close to the junction with Silom Road. The airport is about 50 minutes drive.
So Sofitel Bangkok has 237 rooms and suites. All are totally contemporary and beautifully furnished. You have four design factors – Water, Earth, Wood and Metal, with several floors dedicated to each aspect. There is even a smoking floor in each aspect, something unique in this day & age, but then this is a French hotel group!
| Water rooms are sleek and sophisticated, with organic curves, onyx glowing against cool dark marble.
| Earth rooms are stylish, mythical and rather moody, with primeval wall paintings. Highly individual.
| Wood rooms are calm and affectionate, with old Siam murals.
| Metal rooms are pure and elegant, clean cut, “less is more” classic simplicity.
In each theme you have a choice of room types. So Cosy are a rather pleasant 38 sqm at least. So Comfy rooms are are larger and have attractive park views. So Club rooms have club lounge access, of course. Then you have a selection of Studio Suites, So Spa Suites, So Lofty and So VIP duplex loft suites with two bedrooms.
Roof top bar with regular DJ
Infinity style swimming pool, which hosts an Ibiza style party every month (see note below)
Spa
Several restaurants including lively Market Place with cuisines from around the region and a fine dining European option
Plus many more dining options in the immediate area
You need something special to stand out in Bangkok. So Sofitel Bangkok achieves that rather easily with its blend of vivid colours, minimalist European design combined with an Oriental flavour. Plus a great location, overlooking Lumpini Park on one side and busy Sathorn Road on the other.
The shops of Silom Road are just 10 minutes walk, or you can take a short train ride (3 stops) to the main shopping district of Sukhumvidt or Siam where you will find several of the largest shopping malls in Asia. In the other direction the famous Chao Phyra River is a short drive or 2 stop train ride away, a very different view of Bangkok.
So Sofitel is not for everybody, quite intentionally. It will appeal to artists, hipsters of all ages (DK was very comfortable here!) and fashionistas, or just those looking for something very different. There are so many areas where you stop and think, “now that should not work together”, but it does!
We have indicated the hotel as boutique – yes it does have 237 rooms and suites, but appears much smaller. It is most certainly highly individual, with amazing attention to detail.
The “Ibiza” style pool party (our words, not the hotel’s) is usually last Saturday of every month, and should be enjoyed, or missed, depending on how hedonistic your mood du jour.

Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.
For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.
If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.
The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day. This will provide you with information on entry requirements including COVID-19 testing and any quarantine stipulations, especially on return to the UK.
