Six Senses Duxton offers totally unique heritage elegance set within a fascinating location.
A 3-day (2 nights) stay will start from £288 per person.
Including breakfast daily and private airport transfers.
Upscale boutique, classic heritage style, with reassuring contemporary modern comforts. Six Senses Duxton is located in the traditional heart of Chinatown, with its maze of narrow streets and alleys and brightly coloured shop-houses and art galleries.
The main shopping malls of Orchard Road or the Marina Square are just 10 minutes’ drive, the airport 45 minutes. Popular dining and nightlife enclaves of Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Robertson Quay are 5 to 7 minutes’ drive from the hotel.
Six Senses Duxton has a choice of 49 Guest rooms and Suites, segmented into 8 unique room categories.
Each room has been individually designed so no two rooms are identical. Each offers a real sense of authenticity, yet with pleasing sleep comforts and amenities.
The entry-level Nutmeg Room is a little on the compact side but perfectly adequate. We particularly like the larger Shophouse and Opium Rooms, whilst the Duxton Duplex and Montgomerie Suites offer the most lavish space.
Attractive oriental-themed Yellow Pot restaurant and bar serving classic and innovative Chinese cuisine.
There are many more options within the immediate walking area.
A unique feature is the availability of complimentary consultations with a traditional Chinese physician on-site.
Six Senses Duxton is a perfect choice for those who require a real sense of history and a very welcome option to the luxurious high rise hotels that abound elsewhere in the city.
The Duxton area started life as part of a nutmeg plantation under the ownership of Dr William Montgomerie way back in the 1800s. It was rumoured some of the first nutmeg seeds introduced into Europe came from this plantation. The area then became notorious for gambling and opium dens when the plantations made way for low-rise shophouses. Gradually over the last 25 years, it has transformed to become much more upscale and is now one of the desirable and sought-after locations in the city, especially with those who dislike corporate ubiquity and prefer something more individual with an artistic vibe.
The row of shophouses on Duxton Road was first converted into a hotel in the 1990s but not particularly successful in the view of David from Chic, and he knew the property from that far back! But Six Senses, with assistance from renowned interior designer Anouska Hempel, has restored it into a property of real style and elegance. It reopened on 15 April 2018 to instant acclaim.
Even if you choose to stay in something more conventional, make time to visit this area. It is so easy on the eye and the lens. Just take a good map and walking shoes.

Singapore offers a fantastic selection of restaurants and night-life, as well as parks, museums, and on Sentosa Island, beaches.
The skyline is maybe more North American at first glance but, like Hong Kong, go below the obvious and it has some traditional and busy little street markets that offer a perfect contrast to the numerous shopping malls. In our view, Singapore is the very best introduction to the region for the first-time Asia traveller. Plan to spend at least 2 clear days as there is so much to see.

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers.
Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.
