Mystique Santorini is pure romance and totally couples focused
With a typical island design theme that really captures the unique style of Santorini, Mystique is one of the most acclaimed luxury hotels in the region. Dramatically located on a cliff top at the famous Caldera on the south west corner of the island, just a few minutes walk to the village of Oia, 30 minutes from the airport and 40 minutes to the volcanic sand beaches of the south coast. The lively island capital of Thira (Fira) is 20 minutes. Mystique is a Luxury Collection hotel within the Starwood-Marriott group.
Mystique Santorini has 41 highly individual suites and villas, both in their quality and location.
They reflect a charming almost deliberately simple elegance. Whitewashed walls, with just a dash of colour, each suite seems to have been lovingly crafted into the rock face, so you have the impression you are staying in a rather spectacular cave but, of course, with contemporary comforts. All have incredible views of the sparkling Aegean sea below.
You have a selection of Vibrant suites which are entry level, Allure suites which are even more spacious with larger indoor and outdoor living space and jacuzzi tub. The Wet Allure Suites have outside jacuzzi. The Spiritual Suites have a Zen influence and their own massage beds, plus a private fitness area.
The free standing Secrecy Villas include indoor dining area, indoor/outdoor jacuzzi and wonderfully discreet terraces with spectacular views.
Finally the Mystery Villa, the most prized of all the accommodation, with space and romance in abundance, including a private gym and a rather special infinity edge swimming pool.
Two Swimming pools
Acclaimed restaurant with Asian themed alternative, plus many more options close by in Oia
150 year old Wine Cave
A wonderful selection of romantic hideaway points, perfect to enjoy the incredible view of the bay and offshore islands.
Mystique Santorini is pure romance and totally couples focused, children under 14 years not accepted. Unique design and incredible views, although you do need to be comfortable with heights. There are 37 rather large steps linking the reception and main public facilities up to the cliff top – take your time, use each step as a photo opportunity. Oia is incredibly scenic with so many “instagram ” moments – it must be one of the most photographed villages in the world. Plus some good boutique shops and an excellent selection of restaurants located either at the cliff top, some mid level and a few literally perched just above the sea.
The award winning Mystique really is a unique resort that deserves to be enjoyed with someone rather special. It will appeal especially to young lovers, honeymooners first, second or third time around, or maybe silver haired romantics.

David Revisits Thailand 2022
I last visited Thailand in December 2021. At the time travel was limited and you had to take a test before and on arrival. This time it was much more open. I arrived in Phuket, showed my Thailand pass and vaccination certificates, and collected my case – all within 45 minutes.
Travel is Back – But Keep Your Expectations Realistic
Confidence to travel again has certainly returned as Covid cases around the world continue to drop. Virtually every country (or at least those Chic Locations feature) has relaxed its entry protocols and whilst there are still a few in-destination regulations these are...

Passport Renewal – Don’t Get Caught Out

Maldives – Welcome Back
The UK Government, both the Home office and the Foreign and Commonwealth office, have now approved travel to the Maldives. This is fantastic news and comes at exactly the right time for winter escapism.

Phuket Sandbox Promotion
Although the Sandbox scheme has improved week on week since its introduction in early July, and most of the southern resorts have a high vaccination rate and low cases, the UK Government has chosen to look at the entire country and made it all on the UK Red traffic light NO GO area.

Thai Phuket This Summer – Probably!
It is highly probably the resort island of Phuket will re-open to international travellers from the first week of July 2021. We have a few ideas…

Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.
For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.
For the Mediterranean & Canary Islands, Caribbean, Arabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.
*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.
If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.
The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day. For updated information please refer to the UK Government travel advice https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice. This will provide you with information on entry requirements including COVID-19 testing and any quarantine stipulations, especially on return to the UK.
