Kandima Maldives

CHIC CHECK

Some Maldives resorts are almost deliberately romantically rigid, with a virtual “do not disturb“ sign given to arriving guests. You almost go to escape other people. Kandima Maldives is very different. You are almost expected to show your delight and pleasure with smiles and laughter. It is a place to enjoy, to relax and pamper yourself, but to also indulge in some hedonistic pleasures as well. Being seen to be having fun is all part of the appeal. Guest interaction, whilst certainly not compulsory, is nicely encouraged.

The accommodation is stylish, the facilities superb, particularly the range of dining options. It is one of the larger resorts, both in room numbers and size of the island, although still a diminutive 3km long. Probably not an ultra-deluxe resort – that is not the intention. It is just exceedingly good superior first-class value.

The resort operates on a Half Board basis, but also offers two All-Inclusive options, both of which include a number of marine activities.

David Revisits Thailand 2022

David Revisits Thailand 2022

I last visited Thailand in December 2021. At the time travel was limited and you had to take a test before and on arrival. This time it was much more open. I arrived in Phuket, showed my Thailand pass and vaccination certificates, and collected my case – all within 45 minutes.

Travel is Back – But Keep Your Expectations Realistic

Confidence to travel again has certainly returned as Covid cases around the world continue to drop. Virtually every country (or at least those Chic Locations feature) has relaxed its entry protocols and whilst there are still a few in-destination regulations these are...

Passport Renewal – Don’t Get Caught Out

Even though the passport office say they can cope with demand at the moment, I have still been told to expect at least 4 /6 weeks for a new passport to arrive. As travel demand increases the longer it will take unless you want to pay extra for fast track…

Maldives – Welcome Back

Maldives – Welcome Back

The UK Government, both the Home office and the Foreign and Commonwealth office, have now approved travel to the Maldives. This is fantastic news and comes at exactly the right time for winter escapism.

Phuket Sandbox Promotion

Although the Sandbox scheme has improved week on week since its introduction in early July, and most of the southern resorts have a high vaccination rate and low cases, the UK Government has chosen to look at the entire country and made it all on the UK Red traffic light NO GO area.

Click for Booking Terms, Price Guides & Flight Information

All price guides are Per Person Sharing Double Room (Entry level), based on travel between May and/or June when prices are generally at their lowest and include promotional offers.
Supplements will probably apply at other times, particularly mid-summer in the Med, and for rooms and/or transfers arranged for single travellers.

For example, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean prices for winter can be approximately double the May – June level and about 50% more in Asia.

For the Mediterranean & Canary IslandsCaribbeanArabia and the Indian Ocean (except Sri Lanka) price guides generally include airfare and transfers.

*For Sri Lanka and Far East we show a per person per night hotel guide, excluding airfare, as arrangements tend to be individually tailored multi-centre itineraries.

Please refer to Travel Advice on our home page or look at www.fco.gov.uk as the Foreign Office may have issued specific destination information on safety and terrorism.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, some hotels may have changed their facilities. Standard descriptions like distance from airport or town remain consistent as does the overall resort style. However, the number of restaurants, swimming pools, if more than one, are by example flexible and can change depending on occupancy and circumstances. Spa facilities, in particular, may be changed depending on local and international suggestions.

If your holiday decision is based on any specific facility please let us know at the time of booking so we can ascertain availability from the hotel. Please note, such information may be accurate at the time given but could be subject to change. In these times it would be prudent to be open-minded and flexible on such matters.

The situation on destination entry seems to vary month to month, or in some cases week to week or even day-to-day. For updated information please refer to the UK Government travel advice https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice. This will provide you with information on entry requirements including COVID-19 testing and any quarantine stipulations,  especially on return to the UK. As you will know this information is constantly changing, frequently at short notice as evidenced by our own Government actions.
