Description and Location
A new 52 Residence all pool suite villa resort, opened in April 2012. Located in the north east corner of the island, at Hanuman Bay, just 8 minutes from the airport and only 7 minutes north of Chaweng beach but a world away from busy Chaweng in terms of appeal. Elegant and spacious, romantic of course, subtle and proudly understated, yet with a sense of fun and mischief.

Accommodation
A selection of  52 villas and suites dotted around the extensive tropical gardens leading down to the cove beach.  The 27 garden suites have a total of 80 sq m of total indoor/outdoor living space, all with plunge pool. An additional 7 suites command full sea views. Further back in the garden, you have a selection of 18 even larger Pool villas, all with their own swimming pool which are 8 metres long. The resort also offers 2 x Bedroom Pool Villas on request for larger families and groups of friends.

As the property opened in April, some landscapping still needs to take place, so there is a minor privacy issue with some suites and villas but nothing a few months of tropical growth cannot solve, and the proactive management team have already added many more mature plants.

Facilities
2 Swimming pools one with a large swim up bar  plus a separate lounging pool where you can sit in the water enjoying a cocktail or two. a small childrens pool,  a couple of   restaurants serving mainly Asian specialities but with Western options plus a selection of private dining opportunities, funky chill out bar, spa, gym with Thai slant, tea saloon.  The bustling  resort of Chaweng is just a short 7 minute drive away, and the more family focused restaurant area of Fisherman’s Village about 10 minutes.

Chic Check – Hanuman is the Monkey God in Thai mythology, and it is said he still smiles down lovingly at his very special bay. Unlike many of the newer hotels on Samui, Akaryn is actually on one of the most better  stretches of beach front, with  especially good  snorkelling off shore. However as is common with this part of the island, the sea is usually  accessed through rocks so anticapate an ” ouch ”  factor. However this has been recently enhanced with a soft sand  sea pathway through the rocks through to an equally sandy bottom  . So you now have the best of sea bathing and snokelling.

You have a sense of seclusion and escapism yet with plenty of nightlife options just a short drive away if you so desire. The style is easy elegance, space,  unhurried moments and  romance, although children – well behaved of course – are welcomed although there are no specific faclitiies beyond the kids pool. If room quality, friendly service, highly  inovative cuisine – and of course fantastic   value especially  when combined with one of our extra value offers  -  are priorities we are sure Akaryn will not disapoint.
