Description and Location
Classic chic simplicity, white stone buildings almost Andalucían – Moorish in style, the emphasis here is on space and light, with the gentle sound of flowing water. Elevated above the Nusa Dua resort area overlooking the ocean and 30 minutes from the airport.

Accommodation
Just 29 spacious  villa pavilions, all totally private with walled gardens. In each you have polished terrazzo floored bedrooms with integrated living space, outdoor dining area, garden sundeck and swimming pool (see images 4/6/7).  The deluxe version are even more spacious with extra amenities.

Facilities and Activities
Facilities include main swimming pool, spa and gym, and a delightful open kitchen restaurant-(see image 3)  and a funky little chill out bar. There is a buggy service to the Geger beach, at the  relatively quieter end of Nusa Dua, where there is a separate club – see image 8. Adjacent to the hotel, you have a championship golf course. A selection of water sports can be arranged at the beach club.

The Balé appeals essentially to romantic couples and does not accept children under 16. As there are numerous steps ( See image 1) and sharp lines as part of the design feature, it would not be suitable for those with walking problems.

Chic Check – The Balé was one of the first hotels on the island to offer a stripped down ultra-contemporary chic style. It is still one of the most photographed hotels in the region, even moreso now after their impressive recent enhancements,  particularly for fashion and design magazines. It has a simple uncluttered elegance, unusual on an island that likes statues and colour, almost clinical and stark yet at the same time wonderfully cool on so many levels. Like so many other hotels within Asia, the Chic team, as individuals, were the first in the UK to appreciate the style. Maybe even more exciting, Lifestyle Retreats have just taken over The Menjangan – hotel. Located way up on the remote north west corner of the island in the Bali Barat National Park, a total contrast in scenery, with a more rustic eco influenced style and flavour, offering jungle forests and some of the best snorkelling and diving in the region. The transfer between the two would take about 4 hours, with some sightseeing en route, although most would prefer to break the journey in the equally spectacular Ubud area for 2/3 nights.

If you do not make it to Menjangan, travel up to Ubud, even if its only for a day, although a night at least, snuggling up in one of our romantic pool villas would be highly recommended.

A large and frankly rather ugly hotel is being built in the area to the right of the hotel, about 700 yards away. This is visible, and at times audible, from the reception area, although barely noticeable once within the romance  your sumptuous villa. However it will be more  evident when at beach club level. Work will continue through to end 2012.
