At Chic we pride ourselves on our destination and resort knowledge, built up over many years of travelling regularly to all of our featured areas.
Just like our clients and travel partners, we have exacting standards, and can quickly assess the pluses and negatives quickly. David, who has been around longer than most, and seems to have acquired almost guru status, claims to be able to know whether Chic will work with a hotel within 10 seconds of arriving in the lobby.
We think it is important clients have factual truths taken from our own experiences, not simply copied from some hotel PR notes. We are known in the industry for our wonderfully candid reviews and descriptions, and are proud that many people are recommended to call us for the true low down.
We work on the basis that it is not simply about the best hotel – just the right one. We like to ask where you have travelled to, where you have enjoyed and perhaps more revealingly where you have not. We are not frightened to say, based on where you have stayed before, the place you have just mentioned will be a stage down. Not a problem, just as long as you have mentally adjusted. Or where you have requested will tick all your boxes, but you need to be aware the weather at that time may not be the best. Travel two months later and it will cost you more, but weather will probably be better.
The Central region of Vietnam (Danang / Hoi An) is generally hot and sunny April through to October, but travel there in the winter months and you will get cold days and even colder seas. Mauritius is generally warm and sunny November through to late April, although you can get some heavy showers and even cyclones in January to March. Travel there in the months May to September, their winter as below the equator, it can be perhaps surprisingly cool. Especially on the windier east coast. Clients do assume that the “tropics“ will be warmer than what they left behind, but that is not always the case.
We also are very particular in selecting images, as we want to show accommodation realistically requested by our clients, rather than that fantastically photographed, but rarely purchased, “Presidential“ Suite.
We are particularly proud of our huge numbers of repeat clients and travel agency partners who find our approach refreshingly candid. We love the comment at the end of the holiday “It was even better than you said it would be.“ – that is just the way we want it.
