Get Ready to Fall in Love… with the Amazing Amalfi Coast
Marie-Helene (MH) at Chic had the chance to explore the Amalfi coast in southern Italy recently, looking to expand our portfolio in that region. It is an area she has visited before, albeit several years ago. This is one of the most romantic areas in the entire Mediterranean, with the most incredible views at literally every turn.
You fly into Naples and then it is less than an hours scenic road transfer on the winding, elevated coastal road. The area is totally luxurious, but in a deliberately understated manner that Italians seem to manage rather effortlessly. Evocative names like Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento and Ravello are world famous internationally, but still retain the wonderful authentic charm of the south.
The area is not known for its beaches. They tend to be small coves with pebbles, but the water quality is generally superb and wonderfully turquoise blue. Take a small boat and within minutes you can be discovering sheltered coves, accessible only by sea. Explore the small towns and villages and, of course, enjoy the superb regional cuisine and rather good wines. MH brought several bottles back which made the office rather happy!
MH visited several hotels during her stay including Belmond Carusso in Ravello, Grand Hotel Excelsior in Sorrento and LeSirenuse in Positano. Her two absolute favourites were Hotel Santa Caterina in Amalfi and the incredible Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel and Spa in Conca Dei Marini, located just between Amalfi and Positano. Both are now featured in their full photographic glory on our website.
It is not cheap, and 7 nights with flights will start at around £2,400 per person (more in mid summer). Expensive, yes, but in areas like these, luxury is priceless. It is exclusive, upscale certainly, but in a relaxed, elegant and totally chic manner.
MH would be delighted to discuss both hotels, and the region, in general. Catch her soon before she travels again!
