Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort has tremendous facilities… On-site restaurant choices, extensive leisure options, excellent spa, sporting activities, a shopping souk and culture centre.
Description & Location
Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa is located just 20 minutes south of Muscat, 50 minutes from the airport. This superb hotel enjoys a fantastic position with an extensive beachfront framed by dramatic mountains and cliffs. It is actually three separate properties, each with their own character and style, all operating under the same management team. There are many interchange facilities between all three hotels, giving you a fantastic selection of amenities. From January 2018 the luxurious Al Husn is being promoted separately but still under the Shangri-La management – their guests can use all of the total resort facilities but there are restrictions on guests of Al Waha / Al Bandar using Al Husn .
See footnote on Al Husn and All Inclusive option.
Children are not allowed in the Barr Al Jissah Resort enclosed bars but they can join parents in the outside courtyard areas.
Al Waha – Located at the southern end of the resort, probably the most family-friendly of the three hotels, and the entry level in terms of pricing. A total of 262 rooms and suites, all either overlooking the swimming pool with some having direct beach front at a supplement. Informal café style restaurants. The rooms are quite compact so we particularly suggest the family rooms (two interconnecting rooms) but early booking is essential especially during school holidays.
Al Bandar – Located in the centre of the resort, with 198 rooms and suites, all sea facing across the main pool. Designed to resemble old Muscat, Al Bandar has an immediate sense of style, both in the quality of the rooms and the total atmosphere. Highly regarded for its overall sense of style, and easy access location.
Al Husn – Positioned at the north of the resort, on a cliff top overlooking the main resort below, and with a separate ‘Algarve style’ private beach to the left. Offering 180 rooms and suites, the most expensive of the three properties – luxurious in an opulent totally Arabic way. In addition to the private beach, there are several restaurants and bars that are for the exclusive use of Al Husn guests. NOTE: Al Husn operates as a stand-alone resort, but guests can use all of the total resort facilities.
Children under 12 years are not encouraged in Al Husn as there are no specific facilities and no interconnecting rooms, so the style remains mainly couples focused. Many areas within Al Husn are for adults only including swimming pool & beach See footnote
